I don't usually start threads over any certain beer... In fact, I rarely start them at all, but damn, have you guys tried New Belgium's Accumulation? I know, I know, it's New Belgium and not IPA coming out of some dude's barn on the south 40 somewhere, but it's really solid. Dry hopped with Amarillo and Mosaic, it's bursting with citrusy (orange!) hop goodness, complemented by a crisp wheat-spiked body with a tart little zing. Maybe the only thing I find a little off about it is that it's their winter seasonal, yet just screams "summer" to me, as it feels so crisp and refreshing. Did I mention it's around $7-$8 a sixer and available all over the place... Win.

Yes, this is a completely shameless plug for this beer because it surprised me in a great way. It's one of the better IPA's I've had in a while. No, I don't work for NB . Consider this a public service announcement, and go pick up a bottle while it's really fresh!

I second this post. I was out of town a couple weekends ago in lame-as-it-gets Texarkana. The GF was in the shower getting ready, I was watching Texas lose to K Sate in our hotel room, and I needed some beer. Had to drive to the Arkansas side of the city for booze. Long story short, this was there. I bought it, not expecting much. Enjoyed the shit out of those six beers. Will buy again to keep right along side celebration this winter season!

Have one in the fridge I'll be trying in the very near future. Wasn't sure what to expect but seeing this thread has me more excited to try it.

Haven't had it this year but thanks for reminding me....loved it last year...still find their nutty yeast strain gets in the way of the hop goodness on some of their beers but splitting hairs here..

Thanks for posting (both here and the review).

This showed up recently at one of my local bottle shops, but I haven't been brave enough to pick some up.

All of the recent reviews seem promising.

Anyone have experience with this year's versus previous years? It looks to potentially be a bit better.

I had it last year and remember liking it. I liked Snow Day as well but didn't see any last year.

I had a few bottles last year, but that was just 3 or 4 months after I really started getting into craft and right on the heels of actually starting to enjoy hop-forward beers. I know our palates develop and evolve constantly, but I also know mine has developed A LOT since last winter.

That being said, I don't remember it being as good last year as it is now - both more hoppy in taste and smell, and with a better balanced body. I suppose there is also the possibility that I didn't have the freshest bottle too, as I can't recall that detail. Jeez... This post wasn't very helpful at all. :grinning:

I like Snow Day a lot, if I recall Accumulation didn't do it for me last year...I'll give it another go when I see it available in single bottles

Huh...I was just commenting elsewhere that I didn't like NB's hoppy beers. I'll have to hunt for this on tap and see what's up with it. I grew to really like 2 Below...and of course they killed it off soon afterward.

I still miss 2 Below. I wish New Belgium hadn't stopped brewing that.

Last year's was good. Subtle crisp wheat backbone with a nice mosaic dank drop to the mouth. The mouthfeel fell flat in finish imo though. Def gonna check it out again as soon as i see it. Thanks for the post Redneckwine.

I hear ya; I think Ranger is very average, and Rampant is hovering in "good" territory (and an awesome value), but Accumulation is several notches above either in my opinion.

Once some of you guys come back to it, let me know what you think, whether it's agreeing with my assessments, or calling me a sick and twisted idiot. I can take it.

I just tried this yesterday, and while I wasn't blown away (felt like it should be just a smidge more bitter to cut the aroma), I was a fan and I liked how drinkable it was. 6.2 percent isn't high, but it drank like a session IPA with how smooth it was.
