Fubark Imperial Stout, 2013 batch. Aged on oak with star anise. 10% alcohol, 70IBU.

Inky black, not much head but the retention and lacing are both great. Huge bitter/acrid coffee and black licorice aroma. Flavor is a mix of dark chocolate, char, oak tannins and licorice. Too bitter but the hops have died down quite a bit since this was fresh, for which I am thankful.

This song makes me happy. Much, much happier than this beer.

They are alright, I drink a lot of that when I go back to NC, I'd rather have Terrapin if we're talking GA beers...

Really good Kolsch. Nose was a bit too fruity/yeasty, but not bad. Taste of lemon, pear, white grape, cracker, bread, herbal, straw, grass, and light pepper. Fair amount of earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Well balanced malt, noble hop, and yeast flavors. Well carbonated and crisp finish; slightly sticky from hops. Very tasty.

Frucking excellent coffee stout. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roast coffee, caramel, toast, cream, brown sugar, light herbal, and light char. Good amount of roasted/herbal hop bitterness on the finish. Rich dark roast coffee flavor with great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and complexity of the malts with nice lactose sweetness. Really restrained hop flavors/aromas other than a bit of an herbal note in there. Super smooth and moderately creamy mouthfeel. Absolutely delicious overall. If I finish this case and Costco still has it, done. All 4 are delicious and only 1 dollar a beer.

WOW. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, coconut, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, brown sugar, leather, and light smoke/char flavors. Outstanding balance of barrel complexity and rich roasted malt flavors. A fair amount of roasted bitterness on the finish provides some nice sweetness balance. Insane imperial stout!

Aaaaaaand that's the end of Fat Ten er #11. Been saving this growler since Saturday. The black plastic poly seal growler cap I got up at Austin St Brewery in ME worked wonders.

Swimming upstream a little bit tonight....I know New Belgium doesn't get a lotta run here on BA, and in many cases deservedly so, but their last few Hop Kitchen releases (FOCOllaboration w/ Odell and this gem) really hit the mark. At $4.59 a bomber, Hop the Pond is the shit!

And now, for the last brew of the evening, A Brewer's Pride Craft Brew No. 3 selection from Shiner - Prickly Pear. I'm glad I ran across this since I was going to take some fruits of the prickly pear cactus home to brew with. However, the season is past and I've only seen a couple of cacti with remaining ripe fruits so this is easier! Not real good, kinda sweet but it does taste somewhat as I remember the pears tasting. Ciao gang!
