Anybody heard much about this places Threes Brewing that is opening soon in Gowanus?

Seems to me like they're trying to be too much with the coffee bar, etc. but here's hoping! (Imagine if you had this place putting out farmhouse & sour ales of similar quality to the IPAs that Other Half is putting out at the other end of the canal!)

I was hoping to check them out while in Brooklyn for a conference this weekend! Looks like they won't be open till November...

They are releasing their first beer Saturday Nov 8 and opening their new space.

You can reserve a 64 oz growler of their new IPA for $10:

I got one. Interested in tasting a new brewery.

Had a chance to taste two saisons, a pale ale, and an IPA from these guys tonight and was really impressed. early to say where they rank (especially having a bunch of beers on an empty stomach), but I'd put their beers on a similar level to Other Half, in that they're on a level with the best beers in the region, not just competing with beers in NYC. excited to see what they come up with!

Agreed. I'd put them on Other Half level so far.

I recommend their saisons, then pale ale, then IPA. Their IPA is quite similar to Other Half's IPA.

Their beers have great elements I look for. Can't wait to see more for them.

Completely agreed that their IPA was similar to OH "IPA" but it lacked a lot of the the character that other OH beers have. That is to say, if OH had only the IPA, I would not heap as much praise on them as I do in terms of [various phrases containing the word Green]. So I wouldn't quite agree that they're already on OH's level.

That said, right out of the gate, they had two saisons that were quite good, and if this is just how they're starting, then it looks like Threes is gonna be here to stay and will soon be on that level.

Enjoyed my tastes and I'll be excited to see where they go from here.

I actually preferred the IPA to the other brews, with the Saison in a close 2nd. Full tasting notes below for those who care.

Anyone have any other info about the event on Saturday? Will they officially be open from here on out, somewhere in the even description it mentions their public launch isn't until the end of the month? Also curious to know what type of growler fill system they use, it'd be awesome if they had a similar set-up to Other Half.

I thought the Arboretum Pale Ale was the stand out last night. I really enjoyed that apricot flavor. The Wandering Bine had a nice funk to it. And I really liked how their Single Tree IPA had a low IBU, though I did get some of that fresh green onion flavor. The Pilot Saison was a nice as well.

And I have to mention that the space is amazing. One of the guys who helped built Torst did a bunch of work there. Huge bar, plenty of tables, huge backyard, and a separate tasting/event room.

I'm looking forward to visiting that space when it's fully operational.

it sounds like there's still a few hoops they need to jump through to open up officially.

The event this Saturday being thrown by Delaney's BBQ, so it's not the official opening yet.

I didn't watch them fill up my growler last night, but I thought I heard them saying they will (or do) have a counter pressure system.

Yeah the space is killer. Wasn't big on the Wandering Bine but the pilot saison was nice. Arboretum was definitely the standout, cool brew.

Forgot to mention the space! I was expecting another Other Half type of space (which is small, but fine because they make incredible beer), but this space is freaking huge! It reminded me a bit of Torst, except 4-5 times bigger, including a huge outdoor back area.

Along with the beer, this is going to be awesome place to hang out.

Couldn't find a better picture online. I took this one last night.

We have a counter-pressure filler, but its not functional just yet. Last night, we purged the growlers with C02 and filled them with a gun straight from the tank.
