Veterans Day Heady/VT Trip

    Anyone else heading up there for the vaca day this Tuesday? I think my co worker and I may shoot up since there is nothing else to do on a random Tuesday off. I figure we are probably good to go getting some Heady in Waits/Burlington but wonder if Tuesday is really worth it.

    Pros:
    Heady available
    Less people then weekend
    What the hell else am I going to do
    No traffic
    Fiddlehead?

    Cons:
    Hill Farm closed
    Waterbury Bars don't open until at least 3
    No Lawsons
    Will the Holiday make heady less available?

    I'm a bit torn as I write this

    Sounds like a plan. Three Penny in Montpelier is open and I think it's the best of the bunch (though close).

    Appreciate all of the thoughts, sounds good to me also. I do love Three Penny. If anyone happens to be going up we'll see you up there most likely

    This is a great idea...What's the best time to get to Waitsfield Village Grocery to ensure I get a case? Reading other threads, it looks like 10am. Thoughts from folks who've done this before?

    I was shooting to leave around 7 to be in the area 10ish. I know some accounts up there we should be able to score at.

    Should stop at Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock and Hops & Barley next door for buying beer.

    How about thinking about the reason for "the random day off" and go cheer up some veterans at a vets hospital on your "vaca" day......

    I'd recommend getting to Waitsfield Village Grocery by no later than 9. I called this summer and I was told to be there by 9 at the latest to have a good chance at a case. I got there at 9:35 and 20 cans were left in the fridge and I was able to luckily purchase those final 20 cans. People were entering the store right behind me looking for Heady so I lucked out.

    Make sure you go to Mehuron's right after. It is right down the street from Waitsfield Village Grocery and it's a limit of 8 cans/person.

    The people immediately behind you were looking for the same beer you bought the last 20 of?? You didn't leave one four-pack behind? Thats bad beer karma. man. Share!

    Well, I had already driven four hours that morning and those 20 cans were being shipped as a surprise gift to someone in WI who loves IPAs and doesn't have access to many good ones, and I told the person behind me at Waitsfield Village Grocery to follow me to Mehuron's so he could get eight cans. So I'd say I was doing something right for beer karma. But just my $0.02.

    Tuesday being delivery day (if someone above is right) it may not matter, but remember that a lot of people will have Monday off instead...might not impact the Heady, but might impact other stuff..
