Just thought I'd put out a follow up to my previous thread as @BeerBuddy2122 (personal info removed) appears to be trading again. Also word or warning to @ATA1K and @JBaraban as I had a great trade with Mike the first go around as well but in our second trade he left me hanging. Hoping he makes it right, but it doesn't seem like that is going to be the case. Previous thread: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/anybody-know-beerbuddy2122.209845/#post-2793598
@BeerBuddy2122 what gives? Looks like you're a generous guy with a good reputation....before this. Pull on your big boy pants, get in here, & explain yourself.
I completed a trade with him about two months ago and everything turned out solid. Don't get me wrong, if someone got shafted then they need to fix it. But I had a good experience with this trader....
Seemed like a good enough guy, and quick to communicate. Odd story, seems like there is more to it. May I ask exactly what you were supposed to be shipped? Or terms? Do you have any idea why it may have went bad? Maybe I can help with beers you were out, or expecting.
What gives @BeerBuddy2122 ? You have the time to come on the site and make more trades, but not the time to come to come to this thread or the other one and give your side of the story??? Not cool at all.
The sad thing is he comes on a lot, and looks at both of the bad trader threads that are about him, you would think he would have something to say…… @BeerBuddy2122 was just on looking at this thread at 4:31am today.
I wish there was more to the story but there really isn't. To summarize, we had a pre-trade setup for two of this years Mexican Cake. Since we had traded successfully before we were able to set something up in March while there was a beer he wanted on the shelves in exchange for the Cakes come May. I sent out right away so he could have some time to enjoy his selection, again thinking there was no issue since we had a trade history, thinking he would send out come late may. Turns out I was wrong as shortly thereafter I stopped hearing from him.
So he did not reply to the last thread...So @BeerBuddy2122 wont reply to this....Sorry, he is just scum...I know he has a bunch of good trades, but he stole from OP and in turn is laughing in his face by continuing to trade here....
Do you have his phone number? Obviously if @BeerBuddy2122 gets on here and doesn't respond to the several alerts he's received and BMs you've surely sent him, it might not be worth it to text him, but maybe a last ditch hope? C'mon Mike, make this right.
I've alluded in another thread that we should have a community-based banning mechanism. BA creators and staffs don't want to be involved in "he said, she said" situations, even if evident is clear or the accused refused to tell his side and/or own up, but when you have situations like this and have these bad traders floating around, the integrity of the trading system is compromised. How about when a thread like this runs its course and still unresolved, BA lets the trading community decide whether or not to ban the user? Simply put up a poll, link to this thread, and let people vote. 3/4+ "Yes" will result in ban. This way the community, not BA, would take the responsibility. As for the "ban" it may be better, although may require a bit of technical changes, to ban the user only from the trade forums, trade request system, private messaging functionality, and note when viewing the user profile that he/she has been banned from trading.
Hi Al. If you want this kind of idea to get visibility, you should post it in the site help forum where it could be discussed without perpetuating this thread. Or, tag @Todd While I understand the sentiment, I'm not wholly comfortable with voting people off the trade island. It's a potentially slippery slope: users could form cliques to start a thread like this with the specific intent to get another user banned. That's *not* something we want to wade into here. Also, as we've noted a number of times, it's not hard to set up a new account here which would be opaque to us (at least for a period of time). What I wouldn't mind is a stickied thread with links to all of these kinds of threads and a recommendation in the trade rules to check that thread. Yes, it would be work for the mods to maintain, but it would provide a resource for people to use and enable them to exercise their own judgment on a case by case basis.
Thanks for suggestion, Kevin. Thread created: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/community-based-banning-for-bad-traders.225310/
I don't know what's worse, not getting your beer...or simply not responding to this thread to "explain" what is happening. I personally think not responding is worse, because its like I just screwed you over and on top of it, I don't owe you an explanation. Yet, I'm watching this thread and drinking your beer. Nice work @BeerBuddy2122 you passed the test and made it to the top of my DTL!!!
