I've given 20+ perfect ratings and i feel it may be too high a number. How many and what beers in particular have you given perfect ratings to on BA and why?

I've given quite a few 4.9+ though. I think you can nitpick enough to find a certain flaw in a beer, but with some you simply cannot, and those definitely deserve a 5.

I think you should have included 0 as a choice in the poll. I know lots of people on here who rate so critically that they've never found a 5/5

None. My closest is 4.96 and I don't see myself passing that for a long long time.

For me there are plenty of 5s out there but I only have a few on my BA review list: Duvel, Sammy Smith's Yorkshire Stingo, and Sammy Smith's Imperial Stout. Duvel made me realise good beer was made elsewhere besides the UK and of all my 5s it's perhaps the one I'd want to drink everyday of the year.

Bourbon County Backyard Rye, El Cid, Rare DOS, Good Gourd Almighty, Rumpkin, PumpKYn, JWLEES Harvest Ale 2002, Dragons Milk BA, Curmudgeon's Better Half, Sucre, Cinnamon Roll'd WnB, Mocha Wednesday, Bois.

These are A+ booze bombs done by breweries that don't need to be truly rated anymore with such a resume for brewing; practically the grand-fathers of this new era.

DB Huna and Chocolate Rain (3 years on it)
    Utopias and FW 16

That makes four 5's, divided evenly between two styles: Double/Imperial Stouts and American Strong Ales

(technically, I have five 5's but that is because the 2003 Utopias is a separate BA entry)

None. Haven't found one yet that is "perfect" enough to give it a 5. Highest so far for me on here is Sucks. I think my top 3 that I haven't done on here were Rare, BBVBDL, and Raspberry Eisbock. All 3 of those are in the 4.9 range for me.

    4...and that's out of 1,280 beers...make that 1,281

5 is more aspirational than actual.

Not many. Actually I could find flaws in any brew. I've gone back to my fives and changed them or thought about it. Like cigars, a lot plays into a score. Sure the taste but also the mood and what I ate and had before. Though some things I've had it didn't matter cuz it was so good.

Zero! There has been a few that came close, but a perfect 5? Everything man creates is flawed to an extent, so in turn, no perfect beer. Just my philosophy.

I've given 6, and while I feel that number is a little high, I do stand behind it.

I have found 4 so far I've given perfect ratings: Kuhnhenn Solstice Stout, Bell's BA9K, Founders KBS Special Reserve, and Founders International Breakfast Stout.

I will continue my search later this afternoon!
