Just tried Southern Tier's Warlock. WOW! I like pumpkin beers, especially Pumking, but Warlock was much more complex and tastier. I know there are other pumpkin stouts out there but I haven't been able to locate any others except for Warlock. Any thoughts on this style?? I was very surprised on how good it was...

Tried Saint Arnold's Pumpkinator a few weeks back, pretty solid beer, not too heavy on the pumpkin.

I think they used the same artificial flavor that's in Pumking. It's also way too thin for an Imperial Stout. Didn't like anything about it or Pumking. And I love Imperial Stouts and pumpkin ales.

A couple months ago I had a bottle of Warlock. It was OK. I kind of felt like the flavors of the pumpkin and the flavors of the stout clashed. I drank about half the bottle and dumped the rest down the drain.

Not huge fan of Pumpkin, but Schlafly Pumpkin ale is really good. My favorite I have tried.

Second the Crown Valley Pumpkin Smash - best pumpkin beer / stout I have had in a long time! You will likely not find it now, and not distro'ed in NY (from Missouri), and the Elysian Dark O' the Moon stout is tasty!

I also like the Harpoon Imperial Pumpkin, which is actually half stout and regular pumpkin ale, good stuff and under the radar.

Also...Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout - Cape Ann Brewing and the "big brother" Imperial Pumpkin stout....
Imperial Pumpkin Stout - Cape Ann Brewing....both nice brews!

Schlafly Pumpkin is not a pumpkin stout

Imperial Pumpkin Smash from Crown Valley is awesome. Better than Warlock. But hard to find.

My favorite pumpkin beer had been Schlafly's Pumpkin Ale (realize it's not a stout), but after having Warlock, I have to say Warlock is now my favorite. It's interesting that they use the same flavoring as Pumking, which is good, but not nearly as good as Warlock, IMHO.

I traded for Arnold King's Pumpkinator last month. It was an interesting experience, but unfortunately falls under the "spiced beer" category for me rather than a true pumpkin stout. It was tasty, just wish it had more pumpkin and less nutmeg.

I have a Warlock from last year, and one from this year...the comparison will happen in a couple of weeks

It's a porter rather than a stout but Midnight Sun has redeemed all pumpkin beers for me this year. Head and shoulders above everything I have tasted. Pumpkin is subtle, so if you want a pumpkin punch to the face this isn't it. But there are delicious chocolatey notes, coffee and cinnamon that make this outstanding to me. Reminded me quite a bit of Xocoveza but with a tad of pumpkin.

Agree with both of these and said pretty much these things in my review. I drank a bomber by myself and plowed through even though I thought about drainpouring it. I started getting a nasty headache before finishing it. Basically it's one of those beers that gives you a hangover almost immediately. Pumking did the same thing to me.
