First and foremost is the taste.

I fell in love with IPAs and wanted to drink better beer. I hate light beer and got bad hangovers even when I drank a couple. its better to drink good beer than to drink macro beers with a ton of additives.

Taste and variety are the main reasons but there is more to it. Craft beer has the ability to transcend the classification of beverage and become a serious hobby. This goes for wine, too, although that is more expensive and not quite as delicious I think. Some people want more out of their alcoholic beverages than just getting buzzed, and that's really where it all starts.

Flavor, which is why I seek variety. I want to try all of the good flavors that I can! The support of small business is a bonus.

If I simply wanted to get drunk, I'd start with my Fireball Whisky (also great in flavor, but offers no variety).

Have you tried a good ipa. If that isn't reason enough to drink craft beer, then commit yourself to a life of banality.

Flavor, sure, but while I don't get all misty and religious about beer or brewers, to be honest there's just a hint of cause to it with me.

I like things that are made really well, carefully, by people who are into what they do, and it helps if those people make their living somewhere around where I live. I don't have piles of cash to indulge buying hand-made local artisanal everything, but I have a few things laying around.

I have a Duluth Pack shoulder bag, right on, carry my laptop around in it and what not. Green canvas, brown leather straps, brass buckles. It's made in Duluth, Minnesota, and it's made really well, and I like that I know what building it was made in, in a town I like and spend dollars in. I've had the bag and used it every day for over ten years, and I'm never going to have to buy another one. Crop-share stuff, whatever - if someone around me makes or grows or brews good stuff, I want to give them at least some of my money when I buy that stuff.

For craft beer - yeah, I mostly like the fact that it tastes really good, and sure, I buy craft beer that's made outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota, but I get my growlers filled regularly here in Northeast, and Lucid, Lift Bridge, Lake Superior, Bent Paddle, Borealis Fermentery and Olvalde are all in regular purchase rotation.

    Support your local (good) brewery(ies).

But mostly it's because it almost always tastes a lot better than the alternative.

Most craft beers we drink create american jobs which only adds to the awesome flavor. Murica

I fully agree with your first two statements, and those are my top two reasons for drinking craft beer as well, but I would like to respectfully disagree with your third point. For some of us, it also happens to be a cause.

It's what I grew up with. When kegs began to appear I didn't enjoy them as much. Too cold, too gassy and not only less flavour but usually less pleasant too.

Because I rarely drink and when I do I'd rather have bold, exotic flavors going on instead of the same old bullshit. Life is already too full of that particular brand of manure.
