When you see craft beer bottles littering the woods or other public places are you more annoyed than if you see the usual keystone light or steel reserve cans? For some reason I am. I think it's because the craft beer community I know are often the kind of folks who ride bikes to work, and want to keep our natural areas clean. Obviously anybody can purchase craft beer and discard their empty bottle wherever they want, and not ALL craft beer lovers are eco friendly or nature lovers, but I still find myself more disappointed and annoyed by an empty bottle of Sierra Nevada pale ale littering a hiking trail, than I am by an empty can of old mil. All litter can be harmful and of course your bottle macro adjunct lager has the same potential for bad as a craft beer bottle does, but the Sierra Nevada bottle still makes me more mad.

I want to know if the experience is shared , or I'm just being unreasonable. Let me know.

I absolutely hear you. I think part of it is because instead of just "them" being litterers, it's people that I am more likely to identify with. It's harder to write them off as ignorant idiots when I only know 3 things about them (they like good beer, they like to be outside, and they litter) but have two in common.

I don't know anyone of my craft beer friends who ride their bikes to work, but they don't litter neither. Does surprise me when I see craft beer litter- but that may be due to the amount of people who drink it, not the types of people they are.

Drinking craft doesn't make one classy. There are plenty of BMC drinkers that are non litterers...

I honestly can't recall the last time I've seen any craft container as litter. Most of the beer container litter I see around here has clearly been tossed from vehicles. I guess craft drinkers (at least around here) don't drink craft in their cars and then toss the bottles out the windows. About 100% of the litter I see on golf courses is BMC (they don't sell craft at any course I play) and that really torques me since there are trash cans on every tee.

Don't buy into any of the craft beer drinker stereotypes we as a group are no different than bmc drinkers except for the beers we drink.

I love to drink in the woods but I try to hold on to my bottles until I see a trash can

Considering it is better to drink from a glass to release the excess carbonation and appreciate the craft I would find it annoying just in that the person did not enjoy the brew as much as the person could have....that said I HATE litter. Shows a lack of class and respect for ones surroundings, whether that is a city street or a grassy glade.

Any fool can litter. Cigarette butts piss me off the most. I watch mindless Mercedes owners and old farmers in rounded pick-ups dropping their butts, nubs, etc. with impunity. I've seen them crushed out on a putting green!. THE WORLD IS NOT YOU EFFING ASHTRAY! I see more McDonald's bags, Mike's Ciders cans, 25 oz Miller Lite cans, Steele Reserve, Blue Ribbon, and little airline liquor bottles than anything else. There was one guy I tracked down that dropped a Pepsi can at the same spot every morning. It was the paper person on delivery early each day. There's been a Heady Topper litter outbreak lately- not really!

Not too much in the way of beer bottle/can litter around here.

We have a nickel deposit on carbonated beverages and somebody will pick those shits up for them nickels.

Personally, I get my nickel back most of the time or I put it in a recycling container.

If you drink a craft beer in the woods, and there's no one there to.....I don't know, couldn't come up with anything clever

    Yes, but for different reasons.

It reminds me that craft has gone more mainstream, which is a net negative for me.

I don't recall the last time I saw bottle or can litter, period. The $.05 deposit coupled with a large homeless population means every single returnable item is picked up almost immediately.

Thought this was going to be about drinking and hunting. Thank god I was wrong that is a bad idea. Now drinking and fishing that's something that I can get behind (as long as you aren't piloting the boat).

i've never seen craft beer litter. i suppose i would think it was an unfortunate accident. You know the budweiser cans on the side of the road are on purpose though.

We all know where the Bud cans come from. I don't think they are from anyone that is on this site.

I actually noticed the craft beer litter while on my way to go squirrel hunting.... However I was not drinking, just smoking my pipe.

Can't say I've ever seen any craft beer litter before. I do recall a message from Chase Healey (Prairie Artisan Ales) on facebook with a picture of a smashed Prairie "flathead" bottle cap with a caption that went something like, "You know you've made it when you find one of your bottle caps in the Tractor Supply parking lot."
