I've been noticing in general that Cascade beers have been going up more and more the last 6 months. I got an Elderberry in NY for $32.99. I found a website that ships from CA selling Bourbonic Plague for $49.99. That seems ridiculous to me. I looked back at an online order I made on May 6th and paid $30 for it. On their website it says it's $36 in house now. Have these beers gotten too expensive, or is it fair for where the market has gone?

    Yikes.

I have a hard time pulling the trigger on ANYTHING over $20- there are simply too many quality (and cheaper) options availiable.

I've noticed a retail price increase too, and I wonder if they've raised prices to offset lost revenue from their online store closing.

If you like paying $30+ for lockjaw lacto bombs with no depth then you're ok...

It's $40'ish in CO. and while it's a beer I enjoy, that's a lot of money to spend for just about any beer. Something better be really zany (a la Utopias and such) or world class to justify that kind of $. Bourbonic is good, but neither of those things.

Seems they are really edging into Bruery territory with those prices.

Guess I'll have to stick with other place's sours, or just avoid them and go back to the shelf standard IPAs and stouts.

In general, I do not spend more than $18 for a bomber and I've tasted many great beers. I think I will make an exception for 1 special beer for Christmas - maybe an Eclipse beer from Fifty Fifty or something from The Bruery.

Unfortunately Cascade pricing keeps getting higher and higher while their quality is staying pretty stagnant. What I mean is they're asking VERY high end pricing for what I consider most of the beers to be good, but not GREAT beers

That also seems to be trend with other breweries, but particularly from that region: Ale Apothecary

While I don't disagree I do take into account that places like De Garde underprice their beers compared to market value. Also some of the smaller breweries that don't distribute very far make me stomach pricing differences. You would expect a small brewery with more direct overhead and less ability to make capital to charge a little more. Just like why your giant liquor store chains as a whole are usually cheaper than a place you may frequent but is run by Joe and Bill. We like to say support small business and with that sometimes you pay a little bit more which I'm okay with

While I've seen $30 beers from The Bruery and even a few higher than that, they also have many in the the $8-20 range, which while not cheap is still less than what I've seen pretty much EVERY Cascade beer priced at. I'm not entirely sure, but seems Cascade's beers were super expensive first.

The price to wholesale went up in 2014. Some retailers still had 2013 inventory, hence lower retails at some places. I loved the Blueberry- had it with the family on the 4th of July at around 4000 ft (atop Elk Ridge Mountain), with a fresh blueberry pie made from berries picked in the yard that day. I'd repeat that experience as often as I could!

I was barely comfortable with the $20, $25, $30 pricing they had going before...sounds like this just broke the broke the camel's back for me.

To me this beer tastes like when Cuvee de Tomme is on point still that's ridiculous. I purposely won't buy Cascade anymore with this damn shipping suspension. Every liquor store has them now and prices them way more then you could buy them online. Used to get Bourbonic Plague for $30 plus shipping.

The process for making that beer seems like a crazy amount of work, so I'm not terribly surprised. Seeing how it's my favorite beer of all time, I'm a bit biased, but I'll pay that anytime.

Rivertown Brewing in Cinci has 4 sours they have repeatedly brewed and they are priced between $12-$14 and one is even barrel aged (Old Sour Cherry Porter), so yeah, I'll pass.
