So the tweeter's got it wrong? Not Alpine Brewing Co? It is Alpine Beer Co. TwatHeads!

Well the ability to still remain independant is good.

So I guess this is perhaps the craft-beer version of Inbev buying Goose Island.

Better than InBEV going after Alpine Beer Co. Or is it Alpine Brewing Co?

I can't say that I agree. Sure, if you eliminate all the subpar batches (and horribly inconsistent bottles) coming out of Alpine central, I guess, but the Green Flash-brewed stuff has been consistently excellent. And they're not talking about closing the brewery, they're talking about brewing for distribution. But let's same I'm way off and terribly wrong (always a possibility), you should still be ecstatic because nowhere does this talk about closing down the brewery. Conceivably this lightens the load for locals, since fans of the brewery who live further away will now have less incentive to travel all the way out to Alpine.

They already had plans to move the pub to a much bigger space a few miles up the road, so the "lightens the load for locals" factor really doesn't mean much. The primary concern is that a lot of locals disagree with you on the "consistently excellent" point, especially with the most recent batches of Duet and Hoppy Birthday.

Anyone else dream of this merger going down like the WWF/WCW merger? In my dream Booker T kicked in the Green Flash walls yielding bottles of Pure Hop. Triple H was manning the GF bar and dropped his Le Freak bottle. Jeff Hardy was standing on top of the fermenter posing like he does. And then the Nitro girls danced while Buff Bagwell strutted in the background.

I see it as a good move. Alpine's brewery/restaurant are nice but too small to really increase production (and a wee bit out of the way), apparently Green Flash was already contract brewing for them anyway so it seems the logical choice. As long as they keep Alpine as it's own thing (which it sounds like they will) there's really no down side to this IMO.

Alpine had bottles of Expo & BA Odin's Raven available. The Expo is gone though.

The most recent batch of Duet was terrible, for sure, I returned pints at both places I ordered it from. Haven't had the most recent batch of Hoppy Birthday. I'm confused as to your point. That two data points represents a significant sample size? No, no they don't. That bad batches never appear out of the brewpub? No, no that happens, too.

Look, change is scary, but if you don't think Alpine has tons of room for improvement on a consistency scale, you're crazy. I respectfully disagree that there haven't been great batches of Alpine beers brewed out of Green Flash, and I know enough locals who feel the same, and enough non-locals who haven't had to make the pilgrimage and experience the special specialness of Alpine, who agree, to feel confident saying Green Flash is capable. And it's happening. So I feel relatively comfortable being excited over what's happening.

All that said, if you feel pessimistic over the same information, God speed. But I do hope I'm right.

Finally checked out Alpine (in Alpine), and as much hype as there was about the beers, the beers exceeded the hype... especially Nelson... omg Nelson...

    New post from Alpine:

    Timing Is Everything

Good news is hard to keep quiet, so I won’t. We have holiday hours to report as well as some upcoming releases. So, buckle up, tighten your chin strap and hold on for a whirlwind extravaganza of sophomoric humor and derisive condescension.

Because we love our employees, and we don’t want them calling in sick on a holiday, we have decided to close for business on Thursday, November 27, 2014. We will reopen regular hours on Friday after Thanksgiving. Please take the opportunity on that day to think of all that we have to be “Thankful” for, like loose shoes…

The collaboration brew we helped out with at New Belgium Brewing is in stock and ready to be consumed. “Super IPA,” the defender against bad beer, is brewed to 9% abv and uses Columbus, Amarillo, Simcoe and Centennial hops. This beer cranked up the IBU’s to 99 and has acidulated and melanoidin malts for that malty/tart flavor. We’ll be serving it in the pub and for growler fills.

A new beer we named “HFS” is being released on Friday, November 28, it is a single IPA at 6.5% abv and uses Mosaic, Citra and Simcoe hops throughout. We really like the flavor and aroma of this one so don’t wait too long to try it as I will surely drink more than my fair share.

Next week, by Thursday at the latest, we will be putting on some fresh “Hoppy Birthday,” the most celebrated beer in the world. This beer is our hoppy pale ale that’s brewed like an IPA. It weighs in at 5.25% and is quit sessionable.

Pizza Port’s Strong Ale Festival will be back on Friday andSaturday, December 5 & 6. We’ll be there too, with beer. Yummmy beer. “Super IPA” and for VIP “Barrel-Aged Odin’s Raven.”

We will be a part of the LA IPA Fest on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Mohawk Bend, a bar in LA is, again, hosting the blind judging of mostly local IPAs. Judges are professional brewers and it was a good time last year. Shawn will be there to judge and be a celebrity, be sure to ask for his autograph.

That is all the news that’s fit to print. Look for more news in the coming months on our move to the “new pub” location at 1347 Tavern Rd., #23, next to Ace Hardware.

You left out Pat's insane rant at the end of the email blaming Michael Brown for being shot by that cop. He intimated that Michael Brown got what he deserved because he was dressed like a "thug." That left a really bad taste in my mouth. I know everyone's entitled to their opinions, but that's an odd thing to put in a company newsletter to customers.
