Assuming that you could add any twelve ounce can or bottle regularly available to you, excluding very limited brews like BCBS, white oak Jai Alai, but including reasonably priced seasonals like FBS, Backwoods Bastard, etc.

p.s. the number line on my laptop is broken, in case anyone was wondering.

$14.99 but there better be good stuff in there. Not necessarily whales but no urine bottles either.

As someone who has always wishes singles were commonly available everywhere since I got into beer, I'd gladly pay the price of a sixer of the most expensive beer in my mixed 6-pack, plus even a dollar or two on top for the convenience factor.

Somewhere around 15 and even up to 20 would be fine with me.

$29.99. Money should be no object.

Mixed packs are hit or miss. One place by me charges by the bottle and it seems way overpriced. Last time I went in there I grabbed 4 beers, 2 breakfast stouts and 2 Dark Penance. The total was like $16 and change so I just said forget it. Neither of them are more than $11 for a 4-pack so I thought the mark up was way too much.

There is a grocery store by me though where it's a flat price of $9.99 for a mixer and they didn't have anything crazy, but I did get get a Two Hearted, Hop Devil, Lil Sumpin Wild, Obsidian Stout, Centennial IPA, and a Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout, so I thought $9.99 was a great deal for those 6!

With beers like Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale and Ten Fidy available in 12 ounce formats, $16.99 sounds like the high end of what I'd like to pay for a hypothetical mix-six pack. Though I suspect the price could go higher if we include pricey bottles like De Molen and Prairie.

assuming you could get anything normally within your reach.

and what if it would include beers in that price range but were not normally available to you/ don't distribute to your area?

Just paid $12 at a Chicago suburban Binny's, for a half dozen single IPAs I can't get in my home area--none of which, however, was particularly notable. I'd pay a little more for well-known/highly-rated beers I couldn't obtain at home.

I can't get beers like Hopslam and Dirty Bastard where I live, so if given the chance, I suspect it would comfortably wash over the $20 mark.

A better question would be what % increase per bottle would you be willing to pay.

For example, if a store has Lil Sumpin for $9.99 a 6-pack, that works out to about $1.70/beer. If you grabbed 6 random beers that were all from $9.99 6-packs, what would you be willing to pay? $2 a beer? $2.25? More?

I think my problem with the store I mentioned earlier is that despite having 6-packs of Lil sumpin for $9.99 buying it as part of a mixer, he charges $2.69 for that bottle, which in my opinion is way too high of a mark up.

I think a big part of the decision would be how rare or hard to get are the beers being offered. Like someone said above, if I can't get some of the beers near where I live, then I would pay more to try them. It's all relative.

If it was beers like bomb or mephistohles usually sold as 12oz singles i would pay $40 or more.

It just depends on the beer. This is so vague. There's a store up here that has a decent selection of loose beers to make your own 6pk. The prices range from like $1.49-$3+ a beer depending on how good the beer is. So you could make you own for like $10 or over $18 if you pick better beers.

It would most definitely depend on the beers.
I normally will pay anywhere from about $1.50 to upwards of $4.00 for a single of something to put in a mix sixer.
I will not pay stupid markups for singles though.

I agree, this is the right question, how much of a markup would people pay to buy by the bottle vs. 4 or 6 pack. This also certainly depends still somewhat on the beer, but there is no real way to put price on just a random mix six with the way beers are priced so differently. I frequently buy individual beers because I would rather spend a little more and get to try more beers then end of up with 4 or 6 of everything.

1.66 to 2.69 does seem like a high markup. I browsed a few common beers for bottle vs 6 pack prices online at the main beer store by me and while there is a markup, it is more like 10% which seems very reasonable (never did the math before)

You could look at it this way too. If you wanted to try 6 different beers but you really didn't want to buy the whole 6 pack of each you would gladly buy one of each and make your own 6pk. So you're out maybe $15 instead of over $60. And the price at the bar would run you at least $6-7 a pint of each as well.

Yeah, it's interesting doing the math on that stuff. I'm completely fine with a mark up, even 20% isn't too bad.

It's just tough spending $2.75 on a beer when you can get 6 of them for only $7.25 more ha.
