Say it ain't so...High here in Boulder today was about 10 degrees. Nothing says a nice Cold Winter Day like a Nice 6 Pack of Corona. What the Hell am I going to drink the rest of this Winter? Maybe I'll have to Stock Up for the coming Weeks, Or Not... OP mentioned a Shortage of Clear Corona Bottles, maybe the News Release was mistaken and there was Really a Shortage of Clean Water to Brew this Top Notch, Award Winning Beer?

I'm either one of two things because even though I spend a lot of money on expensive beers I like to supplement them at times with some Corona, Dos Equis, Newcastle ETc.....

Totally agree. I am in love with import Peroni and also dont mind a bottle of cat piss(Corona) on a warm summers day

Good. It's the worse Mexican lager on the market. I would way rather drink a Pacifico or a Tecate.

I drink Modelo regularly while at the lake during the summer, but Corona... not so much. Also, there is no way in hell I am thinking about drinking Newcastle unless it's during the fall or spring. I am personally going to go with #2 based on the options you've provided, because I don't know enough people who actually like beer to try to be an advocate.

They should change over to huge yellow cans and brew it everywhere but Mexico.

This is GREAT marketing by Corona. Just look here at Advocate - The harder a beer is to get, obviously the more people will want it, and the higher price they are willing to pay.....pretty soon people are looking to include Corona as trade bait....

Corona in time, may become that "whale" we all are seeking...........

That being said, being a true gentleman, I will leave my share at the local store for others to discover, and stock up on.

Nah - somehow the world survived it last time.

Brandweek, Monday, August 28, 2006 - Corona Shortage Keeps Retailers Dry, Sales Down
And, since the US gets it's Corona from a separate company, Constellation, not from the ABInBev-owned Modelo now, the US will possibly be spared since they just bought their own Mexican glass factory.

I'm doing my part to help the shortage by not drinking it.

I just fail to understand how there can be a 'shortage' on something as ubiquitous as glass. Just would seem to me there are other forces/interests at play on this situation.

Well, it appears it's not "glass" that is in short supply, it is the glass bottles made in Mexico specifically for Grupo Modelo's Corona brand. Besides the ACL (what many called "silk screened" ) labels, not sure if Corona uses proprietary bottles that are embossed or otherwise unique from standard "off the shelf" bottles in some markets.
The "other forces" are probably a combination of demand for the beer being greater than the capacity of the bottle manufacturing plant(s) owned and/or used by GM, the fact that ABInBev just took over ownership of GM and had to spin-off their largest brewery to Constellation and then (as noted) sold them a bottle plant as well. And it sounds like at least one of the glass plants used by Constellation had quality problems earlier this year.
