So i picked up a couple of these bad boys today and im wondering what something like this would trade for? Definitely interested in Damon and Birth of Tragedy, BCS Rare, Double Black, Dark Lord variations and so on.

Bottles were one per person with your name being written on a list so you wouldnt get two. Luckily i brought a friend with me. Each were $90 and there were 56 bottles total.

Any feedback is welcomed. Want the most fair trade possible when these end up on the chopping block.

    Thanks.

I think everything you listed is doable. I traded a b1 Consecration 3L when it first came out for Dark Lord, Kate the Great, and some other beers.

These bottles are funny. The attraction is the size/novelty, but it's also what makes them difficult to ship. So owners wind up holding out for a lot, while people who want them point out that the beer isn't rare. I stopped getting them for trade value after the first couple, and started buying them for special events before I developed an allergy to most RR sours (wheee).

I recently traded a Temptation 3L for an Adam 3L, which was a great trade in my eyes.

That last trade you mentioned sounds pretty insane. I would probably drink that Adam 3L by myseld and deal with the ambulance cost in the morning.

With that being said i know these are your normal "whale" brews but are pretty limited, brewery release only, blah blah blah. You get the point. Im not looking to get the one up on anyone which is why i threw out this thread. I know that shipping this bad boy is not gonna be any fun and im most definitely not looking for people to add on their end because of my shipping cost. An IP trade would always be ideal of course.

Thanks for the heads up dude.

Hmm, I could IP a BoT, if it were a Temptation I'd be all over it, but Consecration isn't my favorite -tion and I really dislike how it ages...

That said, I agree with Arbi, you can probably trade it for whatever given enough patience, since these are in pretty high demand but no one wants to ship them.

Funny, Temptation is my least favorite Tion beer from RR but for an IP BoT i would be all over their 3L release. Sadly it Consecration.

I honestly dont look forward to the shipping of this bad boy but its something im willing to do. It doesnt hurt to try something different for the first time. Just gotta figure out what im gonna tell the FedEx when he asks what im shipping.

    3L vase?

I would give a damon and something else for one. Consecration is my favorite RR. Me and the wife are already through a half a case of 375s...

Actually, I was trying to express the disconnect between people who have them and people who want them. They're desirable for collectors / novelty, but not necessarily valuable in trade. People who have them think they're more valuable than the people who want them.

I hear yeah. I flew to Nor cal for Beat release but for 3L Consecration Im down to trade. I drank my 3L supp with three couples and we had a blast. This would make an awesome 4th of July party. Cons at 10% doesn't mess around like those weak sauce Cantillion...

Do the trade in person with another Californian BA, or someone visiting that will bring it back on the plane. Shipping will be ridiculously expensive and there are plenty of locals who would want it eventually.

Better yet hold onto them for a couple years and open them up on New Years or just an average Wednesday with a bunch of friends.

As a reference point I've traded some 3Ls of Supplication and Temptation for various combinations, but all in person with various extras thrown in on either side depending on what is agreed upon. I didn't seek out any of these trades on the trading forum but instead was looking to help out some of the other Californians who don't live around here and couldn't come up and get 3Ls.

Supplication 3L - Fou Foune, St Lam (09?), Cuvee de Tomme, a couple of Alpine IPAs
Supplication 3L - Black Tuesday, Mother Funker, Dissident, Oude Tart
Supplication and Temptation 3L - Lente, Herfst, Beatification 004, Cuvee de Tomme, other beers, roughly $4$
Supplication and Temptation 3L - Iris 07, MOAS, Cuvee de Tomme 750ml, Tilquin 750ml, other beers $4$

    In the process of completing:
Temptation 3L for Supplication 3L swap.

I would like to hear Vinnie's opinion on people who buy these beers, and bring a mule, solely for trading purposes.

I traded a 3L Temptation for a Double Black, a '12 KtG and an Allagash Resurgam. It was a pain to ship and I was scared it would break, but the cost of shipping wasn't that prohibitive; I think the box came in around 20lbs and shipping was under $30 from CA to NH. They fit pretty well in a 6 gallon carboy box with a good inch plus of padding on each wall.

    Currently working on trading a 3L Suppliction for a 3L Consecration as I have 2x 3L Supplications and 0x 3L Consecrations.

Oh, well based on the things I've seen put up for them in ISO's, I think they're pretty valuable. For some reason.

Ya, ive seen trades like that happen over and over. Looks pretty fair on both sides.

I am a little worried to ship but the bottle isnt as big as you would think. Still a big ass bottle but pretty sure it can be packaged corrrectly to tolerate any abuse from the FedEx dude. I figured the shipping would be around that much too.

    Good luck on your trade.

You just need to get a 3L wine bottle shipper ( around $10). Put the shipper in another box with added newspaper/bubble/peanut/styrofoam padding. I shipped a few already and it was no hassle at all like regular trade.
