Picked up 4 cases of Cold Mountain today. Two cases of 12's and two of 22's... >sigh<

I think both Cold Mountain and Great Lakes Christmas Ale are tasty beers, but I will never understand the hysteria that comes with their release. Of course, that goes for a lot of other beers as well.

I heard someone bought $500 worth of Cold Mountain at one of the Ingles today.

    I just grabbed one case.

I've never heard of this Cold Mountain before, but I assume I should hoard as much as I can when I see it

I'm with Sam on this one. I don't get the hype. I am not going to lie and say I don't like it, but for me it is one bottle and done kind of thing. But people freak out and go ape shit when it is released and buy every bottle of it up...then two weeks later the second and third waves come out and you can pick it up almost anywhere, including Harris Teeter.

Asheville loves to hype Asheville based products. It's great for local businesses that the community really rallies around local products.

The part I don't understand is that the best release of the day wasn't even Cold Mountain. Wicked Weed released Appalachia, one of my favorite saisons they brew. I grabbed 12 of those today no problem. To each their own I guess.

To give you guys and idea, the release party had a bit more than 70 kegs set aside. Party started on Friday and the Cold Mountain was all gone by Saturday night. One day at Highland, 2100+ gallons of Cold Mountain were plowed through. That's impressive.

Can't wait to try the Appalachia andyctree, on you're advice, which is always solid.

Anyone know the recipe this year? I know last year they added raspberries, right? Or some kind of berry. It's always good, but Atlanta doesn't jump on it like other releases, so it sits for a few weeks.

There were some swing top bottles from last year at one of my local stores just last week. I like it well enough, but do not chase after it.

This is why you shouldn't post while having a beer or three... 70+ kegs is more like 1100 gallons... Yikes bad math.

The stuff from last year is still just about everywhere you look in ATL. Maybe the hype doesn't reach this far.

To each his own, for sure. One's a saison and one's a holiday ale, so it's hard to fairly compare the two, really. 12 bottles shouldn't be a problem getting, really. Wicked Weed's distribution area is miniscule compared to Highland's. That, of course, will be changing in the near future. Regardless, they are both good beers.
