True, but if you go to some of the small towns away from London you might find local ales, less of the euro lagers, and country pubs with local cooking. I'm talking small towns in Devon, Cornwall, Wales, and so on. In Nottingham there were many places with mild. More traditional pubs and not a chain pub in sight, like London. That is just the drinking culture, there are other things that made me say London is different from the rest of England. Similar to my German friends who say the know the US, as they have been to NYC and Disneyworld.

Keesmann has what I was told is a new beer in their lineup.....their Keesmann Weisse. And it is brilliant! The best weiss in Bamberg. And one of the best I have ever had. Just super! I enjoyed it in early Oktober while visiting numerous Bamberg brewery taps. My plan of action was simple.....sample a given brewery's beers but don't repeat any. But with the Keesmann Weisse I just had to have two.....I should have had more! Seek it out when you are there. You won't regret it.

That's because Berlin's original beer culture has been fully destroyed throughout the last century. Other areas (Bayern, Franken, other areas in the south and west) luckily didn't share that fate to this extent, so they largely prefer to maintain their own beer model.

Actually, it's the extreme number of hipsters (aNd counter-culture types that have always been there) which populate the place, as well as what you said, that have lead to this.

@Bierman9 , a bit late to your report here. Nice collection of photos and experiences. Been wanting to check in with you for a while to see if you ever managed to find a beer place worth noting (or revisiting for the beer) in or around Eindhoven? May have an opportunity to head back there and would love to be wrong in my original assessment from when you were planning your first visit there.

Indeed. But AAA has the best found-absolutely-everywhere hotel discount.

It can be noted here that there was a bit of a scandal involving those Gelbe Engeln last year - turns out the ADAC boss-types were essentially accepting bribes in exchange for awarding your company/car/whatever a Golden Angel. It was quite the to-do there for a few days.

Sure was - there is a bit of a brouhaha recently about ADAC avoiding taxes and building upper mgt some very nice villas - or so I"m told.

Antinondisirregardless - they set us up with a nice rental car, taxi fair to the rental car company, towing the dead Mini to a BMW garage and doing the salvage in Belgium all for a 100 euro annual membership.

The giveaway was when it was discovered that their next door neighbor was Uli Honeß. :stuck_out_tongue:
