Spill the beans, people. I know everyone's curious.

So far I've seen Resolute 1:1 Vanilla Rye and I've heard of some pretty insane trades for sets already.

Before there was a "Day" named after the beer, I traded two bombers of TG IPAs for a bottle of the March 2014 release. IMHO, the other guy got the better of that deal. I know I'm in the minority, but Resolute to me was a routinely good BA stout that just doesn't rise above so many others in the wild.

Assuming the Vanilla BCS is anything like the last version, if it was going 1:1 for Vanilla Rye, and I had Resolute, I would do that trade until I ran out of Resolute.

Then I would beg, borrow, & steal more Resolute. And trade it for more Vanilla Rye.

I really want to know if these trades for DBH are getting done. Seen a few of them. Some offering full sets and some offering less. Wondering if any are getting done.

I really doubt it...could see it maybe for the whole set but that's still a big if I think until more reviews come in and it's not just local reviews

I've traded a regular for a 4 pack of 2013 BCBS and for sets I've seen it completed go for:

Set for LPG, Iris, SARA Saint Bernice, SARA Cask 200, BA Narwhal

Also seen a couple of completed that went for various combinations of De Garde bottles 9-12 of them.

I agree. The variants might be incredible, but last year's Resolute wasn't anything special IMO. Not saying it wasn't a good beer, but it's just funny what people will trade and do in general just have a "set" of something.

The real question is this beer any good. I'm not talking Central Waters stout good. I'm talking worth trading a single bottle of BCBS good? Not for ticking for actual taste?

Resolute is in the top-250... so if you think that's a single 12oz bottle of BCBS which is admittedly amazing but available in mass quantities isn't worth getting a 750ml bottle of a beer with over 4.5 average that's brewery release only at 2,500 bottles.. then I'm not really sure what to say to that.

I'm looking for the opinion of someone that did not go to this release. Someone that traded for these beers and has tried them. Maybe its too early for that?

No offense but homerism and fake ratings are an epidemic now. I generally dont even look at any ratings for a beer that are from someone that possibly could have gone to the release.

I'm a cynic but I have been burned by homerism way too many times.

If you're talking about the variants... then yes too early. Only came out this past Saturday. I doubt many traders have gotten a set already and cracked them since then. However, for regular Resolute... this is the 3rd batch of it now and plenty of people have traded for batches 1 and 2 and rated them here. I traded 6 bottles of batch 2 earlier this year here on BA just myself.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm waiting until there's more out of state ratings and more importantly ratings based on the beer out of the bottle before I jump on one of these FTs.

I'm in state and have had Resolute numerous times. It's a really solid BA stout. Do I think it's on par with stouts like BCBS? Not at all, but that's my personal belief, and many others may agree or disagree with me. I will say it's the best BA stout made in VA (above BA GBS, Cafe Royale, etc.), if that means anything to those out of state. Have no variants, and have heard differing opinions on which variant is best. From what I have heard from friends, the Vanilla Mole and Cocoa are the two best variants. That said, I think it's amazing they are trading for SARA beers, V014, LPG, etc. Happy for the brewery and the Brothers, but I also think it's the reality of trading these days as people want super low bottle count brewery only "wales", and will trade what they can to get them. Taste wise, I'm not sure they can live up to those sours. However, I do agree on taking the wait and see approach here. To clarify, I did not go to the release, have no bottles in hand, and have yet to taste them. I will be tasting them soon and would be more than happy to give an unbiased opinion.

To the people who have had Resolute and the variants, how does it compare to Hardywood Trickery? I've had that a few times and really liked it.

It ain't on the top 250 list today... must be floating around near the back of the list.

I had the 2013 version with several months of age on it. It was a great beer. But there are many other better BA stouts available.

Only my opinion, but Trickery blows 2013 Resolute out of the water. Trickery was one of the better beers I've had this year.

Agree that Trickery is amazing, but it's an apple-brandy aged milk stout. I'm not saying it's not at all comparable to Resolute, but that's pretty different as far as stouts go. The only real similarity is they were both brewed in VA.

Haha... wow, I've never had that kind of power ... I'm sure it'll be back up there before too long, it's a great beer
