Seems like you could be advocating either for the beer, or for the approach that the brewer and what that represents. In the first, your main concern is the product, the second how that product gets made, and you'd get wildly different responses to whether it is hypocritical to support BMC.

Me? I just don't like most AALs. I find craft beers quite capable of every kind of sin attributed to BMC, business-wise, although most don't have the size to really influence the market in the same way. I do think there are a number of small brewers who take an approach with which I sympathize, but if BMC produced what I thought was good beer in volume and at a good price, I'd buy it and drink it. No problem.

But then, for me, the draw of craft is that it is beer that I like. It is not a political point I'm making.

Most days, I agree. In fact, if I don't like a beer menu, water is my go to choice. If I'm at a party, or other place where I drink socially, red wine is an acceptable alternate.

Used to drink Bud, until Sam Lager showed up. People still eat @ McDonalds? Ewww. No BMC for me. At all. I don't do wonder bread either. YRMV. If there is no good beer, I drink water or bourbon.

While it is not nearly as complex as some of the brews we enjoy, it still has a flavor of some sort. Maybe 'taste profile' was too robust of a term for what they offer. lol

I feel like the essence of this thread can be boiled down to "don't be a dick" no matter what your preferences are.

I am. That's for sure. I enjoy a nice light lager when i do not feel like a heavily hopped beer . I often find that I have a desire for a nice lager but my choices are limited. While that is getting a bit better lately , sometimes my only choice is a macro lager. Right now In my fridge there are no macro products but on any given day when i just dont feel like hops there's always PBR.

Wine aficionados scoff at your catchall use of the term "red wine".

I adhere to the ol' "time and place" philosophy. I drink mostly craft, but sometimes in certain situations, I don't mind cheap adjuncts (mostly in summer though).

People should just learn to like what they like and let others do the same...

Having said that- the one thing that always raises my eyebrow is when someone definitively says that all craft beers are automatically better than any BMC, "just because it's craft." I've noticed that type of comment usually originates from someone who is trying to sound elitist without really knowing what they're talking about.

I don't particularly like BMC beers, don't buy them, and rarely if ever drink them save for when a non-craft drinking friend offers me one on the golf course or sporting event... but I have drank some horrendous craft beers, beers that I could not stomach more than a few sips of. A Bud Light isn't good, but I could still finish it without recoiling. Then again, some people may get that same reaction when drinking said Bud Light, so it goes back to "to each his own."

Lol I kinda had that thought for a split second I'll admit.

The real problem I have and this semi goes against what I originally said, is the loosely used term of "Champagne". Don't claim $4 glasses of Champagne during brunch when it's domestic sparkling wine!

We all have our opinions about BMC type products whether it's flavor or politics related, but we all have our own form of McDonalds.

Of course, I have preferences, but hey, this is Beer Advocate, so I didn't get into the particulars.

I'm just busting your chops. I would generally prefer a decent red wine over crap beer also, depending on the circumstances (sporting events or hot days notwithstanding). But I also don't know a fraction as much about wine as I think I know about beer for whatever that's worth.

    Same with bourbon, scotch, etc.

I talk a lot of shit about BMC among other craft drinkers even though I'm known to drink it at times. If I'm out having a bar session I'll grab a PBR or high life in between good beers to save money and cleanse my palate when switching styles. I think most of my judgement of it stems from college and all the frat idiots I didn't like buying cases of natty and keystone. It's nothing against the beer and there are plenty of pleasant, intelligent people who like it.

And as already pointed out the main point here is to not be a dick to people about their preferences. It's fine to judge others based on their opinions (that's just how humans are), but be courteous and keep it to yourself or your like-minded peers. Yes it's ok to drink BMC and it's also ok to think drinking BMC is stupid, just be polite about it.

There are so many tasty, sessionable beers available to folks right now. Ideally we're pointing out these types of beers to new drinkers. I don't begrudge anyone the right to drink BMC but I would hope that we are all being forward thinking and using every opportunity to get craft beer in front of people and not scare away "newbies".

My sister-in-law drinks Blue moon. I mean she loves it. So whenever she's over, I always have a few alternatives for her - Avery White Rascal, Hoegaarden, some other craft wit. And she always likes them. That's about as far as I go in my conversion attempts.

My first rule of drinking is drink what you like. We don't and won't all agree what is good and what isn't. That's life. Now personally, I don't like "lite" beer. If they had no flavor, I might drink them, but the flavor they do have isn't pleasant. Don't be offended if I refuse the opportunity to drink one. I won't be offended if you don't want to drink my stout, IPA, or sour ale.
