Colt 45 High Gravity is my HGL of choice. Next Would be Old English HG 800. Your mileage may vary .
    P.S. I won't do Earthquake again.

I find colt to be tasty but too sweet to drink in quantity. For the lean/taste combo I like OE, but for just taste I go with the slightly lower ABV Private Stock, as it's the Malt Liquor with the Imported Taste.

King Cobra'll do in a pinch, although I only ride that train a few times a year.

High gravity lagers aren't worth the time, when you can pick up a perfectly serviceable handle of white rum or vodka for around fifteen bucks that'll get you drunk much more effectively for much cheaper, without dropping to the absolute death liquid you'll get from something like Earthquake or Hurricane. Seriously. Vodka is 40% ABV in a 1.75l or nearly 60 fl oz container. For 15 bucks, that equals the alcohol content of about 10 Hurricanes. Assuming the going market rate for Hurricane something like that is a buck fifty, they work out to be the exact same price. You can argue you need mixers to go with the vodka, but you can just buy cheap store-brand soda for 70 cents a two-liter, three of those can easily kill the handle.

Seriously. Beer is for enjoying. Vodka is for getting drunk. As a neutral spirit, it serves no purpose except as a vehicle to getting drunk. You could splurge an extra five bucks, get a handle of Sailor Jerry's, and mix that with store-brand cola and actually have something that tastes good for relatively cheap.

Man up. Didn't you go to college? This is drinking 101. You should be able to handle plastic bottle vodka mixed with grape juice fermented in a urinal.

If your just drinking for a buzz then kill a little cheap vodka 1st, it's cheap and fast then drink what you like. Drinking anything to get drunk isn't really much of a chore, you don't even need to try hard, I don't do it anymore but those nights usually involved Tequila and or shots of Jack squeezed around cheap beer. But I was 17/18 too, and I don't want to spend next day puking.

although the root cause of a hangover is still a mystery as long as one is properly hydrated the possibility is lessened.
