Jesus... Went to the wine store to pick up wine for my wife, Came out with a bottle of Port from 1977.. luckly I had some cash on me because I was also able to get a bottle of cold brewed coffee Pot & Kettle and a Bottle of Double Dry Hopped Fort Point that was bottled... today.

I don't generally think of port when someone says they "went to the store for wine"; I know it is wine, but that's a little like saying Utopias is beer.

Man, got some bad news that NC won't see any BCBS Vanilla this year So...in addition to my plea for prop...I've got a plea for that as well!

I mean, really? NC at least got Backyard Rye last year, @Houser even knows that. I'm guessing that doesn't bode well for Vanilla in other places.

Sorry I didn't specify that i went to the wine store to buy desert wine. Also, your comparison between utopias and port is way off, unless you've been drinking grape flavored vodka thinking it's Port.

 

Iowa isn't getting Vanilla either though we got Backyard last year as well. Buuutttt....I'm going to Chicago since I'll already be over that way somewhat for Thanksgiving. We'll see how much I get!!

Just confused me is all. I wasn't comparing the two by flavor, I was saying that port as a style differs from say chardonnay in mouthfeel, complexity, and abv in a similar way that a pale ale differs from Utopias in mouthfeel, complexity, and abv.

 

I gotcha man. I thought you were comparing the two because of the ABV and the fact that Port is a type of fortified wine. Honestly I rather have a bottle of Utopias for the price I paid for the Port

I mean, the ABV was part of my comparison, but that one is an "everyday drink it by the dozen" and the other is a slow sipper was my main point. Your original post sounded like you went in for some table wine and bumped into something awesome instead, and then added beer, and perhaps forgot the table wine you went for; I thought that would've been pretty funny (and something I would definitely do, to my own detriment)
