Did they just lose their head brewer? The guy that came from Great Waters? Thought I saw that somewhere.

"Pondscum Brewing" both just threw a conniption when they read about this brew… :sunglasses:

This beer will be the sole reason why Sunday sales won't pass this year.

I think MN breweries as a whole have taken a step back in the reputation of beer being produced here with this abomination

For me this was the last straw with this experimentation of odd ingredients

    with Rogue's Beard Beer

    and Surly's Dandelion Beer

I had enough when I heard about Excelsiors plans.

There are dozens of brewers at a minimum that brew beers with dandelions, including Dave's BrewFarm, Fantome, Stillwater, Magic Hat, and New Belgium. I think it's a perfectly reasonable and benign ingredient in farmhouse styles.

Here we go with people prepared to jump off of cliffs at the very notion of such a beer being brewed. Beers have been brewed with oysters, pigs, beard bugs, dandelions, and chickens, yet here we are. It might bring awareness to invasive species and money to the Fresh Water Society for the cost of a few mussels.

And you know, they are in Excelsior Mn, on Lake Minnetonka. I'm thinking the point is to raise awareness of invasive species in Mn lakes and waterways. Those fucking assholes.

It's a noble cause to bring awareness to invasive species in the state, I think they could have thrown a fundraiser for the organization instead and spared us the thought of a zebra mussel/milfoil beer.

Surly has their 'Give A Damn' community outreach initiative, Excelsior could have used that as a model for something

True. And maybe there will be a beer brewed with Invasive Carp, next. :sunglasses:
