i went into a local bottle shop and they were selling 2014 bcbs. $10/bottle or $35/4pack! The guy behind the register said they were supposed to hold it until Friday but he said it was available. They only had regular 4 packs and it seemed super pricey so I didn't buy. Has anyone seen this?
I am very curious to see what the smaller shops in Chicago are going to charge. If I saw Prop for $22.99 & $34.99 last year I can only imagine what it'll be this time around. At the same time I keep asking myself what my absolute ceiling is for this beer. I'm only considering buying a single 4pack of regular as the bomber price is too rich for my blood. According to Beermenus a shop in Downer's Grove is rockin' and rollin'!
A lot of reputable retailers who don't give a shit about street dates for beer will also be selling it for reasonable prices.
If prices like that are spread around among other bottle shops, then it's time to protest and just walk away and leave the stuff sitting on the shelf! I don't NEED that beer.
Bcbs itself is really not that rare in Chicago. I was still seeing it for $19.99 a four pack in January at my hole in the wall shops. It would either take a buffoon or desperate person to pay $35.99.
I can vouch that BCBS is extremely rare in the suburbs outside of the initial release. As far as the city itself, the only times I've seen it is after being dropped later in the year from the distributor at random times.
Two weeks ago I bought a 4 pack of regular BCBS in the middle-of-nowhere Aberdeen, South Dakota for $40. I mulled over it for about 10 minutes before I bought it in order to drink on Thanksgiving...the way it used to be years ago.
Happens all the time. Two years ago I bought a four pack Tuesday before Thanksgiving. EDIT: priced regularly, however.
