    Exactly! yu've got my number!

It would be a neighborhood pub if NC allowed that!
    Kid friendly till 8 pm
parents responsible for oversight. Politely asked to leave if children become an issue.
Food served, prebably initially thru food trucks, then to small kitchen with local slow food.

    Pubs yes.

    Bars no.

    (For kids, that is.)

I do want to make a distinction here , this will not be a bar! This will be a pub, or as close as we can get to the real deal.
As much as I am a fan of swearing and hijinks, former mariner here, many people don't care for that, gotta think of everyone involved.

I count myself lucky in that I have 3 neighborhood bars, only one of which allows children, and it's not the one that I hang out at. My personal preference is no kids at the bar, but I'm sure if I were a parent I'd seek out kid-friendly options.

I've always felt that pubs should necessarily allow for families, given that they double as restaurants and have "public" right there in the name, but drinks-only establishments should be adults-only. Not to protect the children, but to save some spaces for adults in an increasingly child-centered society.

I'm with this man! Damn the childrens! We didn't ask you to be our future! Sod off! haha sorry I agree with you I just thought it was funny the way you phrased it. Made it seem like you had general animosity towards children for being children.

Restaurants, still annoying but acceptable. I don't want kids in a bar ever. I don't want them in a pub either but it may be acceptable depending on a host of factors.

If you owned a bar in WI and didn't allow kids, you would ultimately close.

I'm okay with kids until 9:00 pm, then I punt you out like a football.

Nah, kids are still in development so I cut them a lot of slack and hope for the best. I save my animosity for adults, who are presumably accountable for their actions, being fully grown and all. I think we should protect adult-only spaces in our society in much the same spirit that I think we should protect kids from helicopter-style supervision all the livelong day, so they can develop their senses of society on their own among their peers as well as through parental guidance. I don't have children, so I'm free to theorize about such things.

Both have their place, but I think that needs to be planned from the beginning. All the bars that I've been to are dark and relatively loud. I think a kid friendly bar needs to be set out differently. It requires an open, light-filled room with tables. There should also be a small area for them, with various kids stuff for them to play with. I was just at Mispillion and they didn't have a separate area for kids, but the owners kids were playing around everywhere (including a bit on the tour). They had a small section that stored items for them: board games, crayons, paper, etc..

I don't believe kids should be allowed out in public......for that matter most adults either

That is also true if there is a changing station in the restrooms.

The problem is most people don't realize their kids are assholes.

And I think this is one of those "common sense" issues, as has been stated. Then again, most people don't have common sense:slight_smile:

There is a bar near my house where almost anything goes. You can bring your dog in there, your kids, any food you want etc.. I've seen people do burn outs with their Bikes at the front door. The overall feel is mellow and no one cares.

kids are like pets everyone thinks that everyone else loves them as much as you do but most people just really want you to take them elsewhere

I think it's good to demystify alcohol around kids. Show that booze can be enjoyed in a family atmosphere.
Obviously if it's half passed midnight or if you're at a cocktail bar then that's different..

I don't believe most parents know they have asshole kids because they are the reason the kids are assholes in the first place.
