I should have a couple base BCBS at home when I get there. No variants this year for me. Still have a decent amount of barleywine and base from last year thankfully. Went to the beer store near my family in Virgina today and scored some Tweak ($15/12oz bottle!!) and Beer Geek Breakfast, so that helps soften the blow a bit. Per ounce its in line with other beers of the type, but feels wierd to pay that much for a 12oz bottle...

Went into BA withdrawal a bit... Was without power for 24 hours from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning and then had to sort out food for 13 people in a couple hours

@Kramerbarthomer: what have you been paying for Tweak? I know its good, but that was quite a sticker shock. I know the Avery limited release stuff can be pretty pricey though ( I think I paid $12-$13 for Rufus Corvus in Atlanta).

Avery gold foil 12 oz bottles are always $12 per bottle at the brewery release. In Denver they're usually 12-13 at bottle shops. I think they get marked up as they move across the country. Tweak is worth it. It's delicious.

Well after checking a couple more stores I'm settling in two bottles. Not one store I stopped at today had any variants. My normal beer store should get some but not until next week I guess. Time for a beer[IMG]

No, I have not tried one yet but I got a 2013 bottle in a recent trade. I think I will open it soon.

So we went to check in our 2014 barleywine only to notice we were sold last year's at Wegmans today. Odd.

But my total haul is 6 regular, 5 coffee, 4 (2013) barleywine, and 1 vanilla. All fairly local. We got to go into the store that had vanilla over an hour before they opened (we were the only ones there) and they just sold it to us then. Cool guys

So @mbmiche felt that he owed a couple of us thanks for welcoming him to the last round of the Locals without being vouched for; after a delivery exception on Wednesday for the horrible weather, this arrived Thursday morning and definitely gave me something to be Thankful for...

Three Floyds Zombie Dust - I had this once before and loved it; I also like having a lower ABV APA around
Not Your Father's Root Beer - I've head a lot about this one and looking forward to trying it - and am glad it's the low ABV one
Revolution Deths Tar - Cool name, awesome sounding beer
Central Waters Headless Heron - this isn't normally my type of beer, but a couple of us thought it was an omen that it was delivered ON Thanksgiving so we shared it last night, and I was very pleasantly surpised
Three Floyds Dreadnaught - I had this once before too and thought it was great
Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine Ale - looking forward to this one as well!

6 beers with an average BA score of 97% -- this was both unnecessary and greatly appreciiated. Thanks @mbmiche!

I feel like I went through hell to get all this, but from the sounds of it I made out all right. Very nearly missed out on Vanilla.

    BRB I need a nap.

It's 2014. Cap writing is in gold. The 13.8% cap writing is in white.

That's odd. First I've heard about variation in the base. Any idea why?

Well that's news to me... I just checked my packs... got 2 13.8s and 1 14.4... in total 3x BCBS 4 packs and 1 bottle of BW - damn I wanted some coffee... I got 2 shops here in the area doing variant releases tomorrow... the wife is not going to like that.

I'm actually pretty jealous of some of you guys. I waited in line for 3.5 hours at a Binny's this morning and was guaranteed a Prop and Vanilla, then when I got in the store, they said I had to choose one or the other. I think some of your BCBS hunting in other states was more lucrative, too many people near the source here. I consider my day a big failure...

I saw on one of the other threads that the gold caps were pappy aged--a golden ticket kind of deal. Not sure if someone was trolling or not, but I figured that it might be worth looking into.

@Ncpogs--went to Buffalo Grove--12th in line--got 1 4 pack each of BCBS, BCBW, BCBCS, one prop, and one vanilla. Traded the guy behind me one coffee for 1 brand stout--I got the last coffee, so the 200-plus people waiting behind me were probably disappointed. He was nice and we'd been talking most of the morning. I know that Foremost is going to release sometime next week, not sure when, so you still have a shot.
