Saw two bars near me with vanilla rye. Forgot about one until the next day, figured [wrongly] that the other would last into the afternoon, then found some Abyss as a consolation prize.

Usually I'm all for Kentuckians getting a shot at rare stuff because, lets be honest, we get stiffed by a lot of breweries on the rare/limited release "whalez"….

But that being said… switching clothes in the parking lot to go back in and defeat the bottle limit? THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

They had bottles left an hour later. I got a different version. I didn't switch clothes just took some off.

Got all the BCBS's except for the Vanilla Rye (woke up too late).

However, I did get KBS and Zombie Dust instead, so it wasn't a bad day.

Goose Island peeps did it right at Specs in Dallas. The 3 hour wait was pretty cool. We were given donuts, coffee and a gift bag with a sweet ass Bourbon County glass and intelligentsia 12oz coffee. We each got 1 four pack of each 12 oz and a Vanilla, then on the way out got a pretty cool poster on the way out.

To be specific, only the first 50 people in line got a sweet ass Bourbon County glass and Intelligentsia coffee.

Were any other BAs in the room at GI Clybourn last night when the server took the terrible fall while holding a full tray of drinks? I've seen plenty of disasters but this one was horrible - glass everywhere, I think she might have hit her head, and she was absolutely soaking wet. Head to toe wet, like she just stepped out of a shower of beer, wine and water. She immediately ran into the kitchen. I asked my server about her and was told she went to the hospital as a precautionary measure. I hope she was OK. Puts all the BCBS chasing in perspective. The folks at GI did a great job last night, all things considered.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I went to Party Town last. I got there around 9:30 but they had sold out an hour or so earlier. Florence is a bit of a haul for me (Liberty Township OH) but they did seem like some really nice dudes. First time there and will not be my last.

Taking clothes off is really the best way. It shows confidence and will help assert dominance over the store employees. If all goes well, they will will be so intimidated they will insist you buy all of their supply.

Or they'll call the cops and have you arrested.

    It could go either way.

I was there just after you, same issue. Really sucked to make the trip from ohio (though I'm in cincy so not that far a drive) and to come up short. The beer guy was GREAT however, made sure I was on an email list for when they'd be tapping kegs they got and he mentioned they had barrel aged narwhall so at least I got that.

It's really frustrating having a favorite beer that used to be pretty easy to get and now you have to be a sleazy sneaky hoarder to get ANY (not that I am completely above doing that if I were to find some).

I really don't understand why breweries aren't at least trying to get CLOSE to having their supply meet demand. Instead stores keep getting less and the lines keep getting longer. It isn't like Goose is expanding and just can't keep up with growing demand. They can't even supply old states with what wasnt' nearly enough to last the morning the following year.

BTW weren't their talks of BCS being a year round release a year or two ago?

If I lived in a state that got it I would have gone out. Only thing near me was the Hoppin Frog Batch #200 which is just aged 5x longer. Not worth my time.

I work retail so I miss out on all the fun. Thankfully, I have good friends who take care of me. I did talk to one Chicago suburb liquor store owner Friday who hadn't gotten any BCS yet but said he would be getting some in on Monday ... we shall see.

I doubt it'd do any good. I'll be honest, if I owned a liquor store is make sure I hooked myself up a bit too, I don't blame him for that - but I wouldn't take it ALL - I'd share some just for the goodwill of my customers. This was my first time seeing him, but I've heard the stories. He's just one of "those" guys - totally punchable face, compensating for something, whatever. He just have off a vibe I didn't like, even prior to his comment.

It's fine, I got 8 bottles of regular and a bottle of vanilla - less than some but more than most. I was lucky enough!

couple things: was it even supposed to be distributed to Washington?
-they were 2013's, so that's pretty cool
they had coffee as well but was sold out (I showed up 6 hours after the place opened)

My first black friday beer experience. Nebraska didn't get any variants (apparently NE distributors were told they didn't sell enough GI during the year), was lucky enough to get three 4-packs of bcbs. Probably going to gift one for Christmas, drink one now/trade with friends and then age the third. Later I met up w/ my brother at a wine/beer restaurant and they had just tapped a small keg of bcbs! So I got a 10 oz pour of it... a good day.
