Since beeradvocate labels triples as doubles, what are your top three that are worth mentioning

Devil Dancer is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that bills itself as a triple, and it would likely be tops on whatever list I had anyway.

Is anyone convinced a triple IPA is a real thing?

Just sounds better than "hoppy barleywine" i guess.

At 18% 120 min should be called a quad..then again that stuff isn't even beer anymore

still waiting on a Quadruple IPA.. but not a Quad/IPA hybrid..

but to be honest, I don't really take the Triple IPA moniker that seriously.. although beers like Devil Dancer and Double Crooked Tree seem to be more than your average DIPA.. but beers like Simtra, Hi-Res, Green Bullet, etc. come off as just regular DIPAs IMO..

Younger is the first beer I ever tasted that made me think a TIPA was a real thing. I love Green Bullet, Simtra is pretty good, but they don't really feel like a different style.

Younger truly is a world class beer that manages to have an (obviously) huge grain bill without every tasting malty. It's just exquisite hops on hops on hops on hops without ever feeling sloppy. Haven't had one in 2 years, and now I'm already regretting I probably will miss it again in 2015 because life.

I liked one of the answers, but in reality isn't calling a beer a triple IPA just another gimmicky way to distinguish your product from alot of others?

A lot of them should not even be called IPA's. A waste of hops.

Calling your beer anything is pretty much a gimmicky way to try to distinguish your product from a lot of others.

I haven't had many "triple IPAs", but Green Flash Green Bullet is really good. Of course 120minute as well, but I rarely splurge on that $10 price tag.

Right. I should have said: "Inventing" a new style is pretty much a gimmicky way to try to distinguish your product from a lot of others.
