Trust me, it's because you are just new to craft beers and stouts. When I first got into craft beer I did not like BCBS much as well let alone bourbon barrel aged stuff as well. Man has this changed now...

I just recently got into craft beer over the summer. I heard about bourbon county through this BA app. I knew I would have to wait outside at binnys or my local liquor store in the freezing cold as early as 4am. I decided to press my luck and just call the store when I woke up. To my surprise they still had bourbon county. I got there to find out they were selling the original bourbon county flavor for 11.99 a bottle! And they had a 2 bottle limit! So I paid the $24 for the 2 bottles and decided to call marianos. They told me they were getting their allocation today (Monday) I woke up early today to try and get vanilla or coffee. When I got there they only had a few 4 packs of the original flavor. I was disappointed because they must have gotten their allocation earlier than today then. However the price for their 4 packs were $22 which was nice considering I paid $24 for the 2 bottles at my local store. Overall I was able to get the 6 bottles of the original flavor for $46. Not bad for not losing sleep I guess. I just wish I could have gotten the coffee or vanilla since I'm from the surburbs of Chicago.

How do you guys store your bourbon county? And how long do you usually age your bottles before you drink them?

This is the first year I scored all of the variants. Next year i'm making my husband go with so we can buy more. Waiting in line outside wasn't too bad, next year i'm going to bring a thermos of coffee though. I'm excited to bring some of these to DLD next year.

I never believed the Pappy Barrel thing but I've now had 4 BCBS in the last 4 days. The first two were gold lettered caps but the third had white lettering on the cap and I swear it tasted different, more boozy maybe despite also listing a 13.8% ABV. It seemed hotter than the gold cap bottles and reminded me more of 2013 BCBS when it was fresh. The fourth bottle had a gold cap and reinforced my preference for the gold cap bottling run. The bottling dates were a couple weeks apart.

I lost count of how many stores I went to today that sold out of Vanilla Rye in 2 minutes...

Here on Long Island, our G.I. distributor was closed on Friday so most of it got delivered Monday...we got cheated out of the Black Friday frenzy, which was fine with me. As fun as it would've been wrasslin' folks for an LED at Walmart, or trampling Grannies for some BCBS, it was cool. Shopped on Slickdeals all day in the comfort of my own home. It's all good, I'm not buying a ton this year, got a Vanilla in the fridge for tomo night.

We got NO coffee whatsoever though, which is strange. It sat on shelves for a month in 2012, and became a bit harder to get last year, but now no one even got it. The Vanilla, I'm not kidding...I went to quite a few places that had it and they said it was gone in 5 minutes from when they opened the 1 case they got. There was some barleywine around, but not much (mostly single bottle sales, if they even had any).

    Haul (North OC area):

    Vanilla-1=$35
    BCBS-1,BCBW-2=$27

Let the liquor store guy keep the Coffee, he's never tried it /:
Got to try BCS/BCBW/BCCS fresh on tap Coffee being my favorite.
All in all, wonderful beer but living the young college in debt life, might have to hold off next year.

Drinking great right now, no need to age to enjoy them! But if you want to age a couple store it in a cool, dark place (55-60 deg for me) and try them periodically to see how they develop over time. Some might argue that they are better now than they will be aged but that is all subjective to your personal tastes.

I was just going to write this. Founder's normal lineup crushes just about any other brewery's that come to mind. I may be biased though because they truly are my favorite brewery all around.

That was the first thing I thought but I'm planning to do a 2013-2014 vertical with both the barley wine and reg stout and now I'm thinking I'll throw in a 2014 white cap vs. gold cap to see if any of the other participants notice a difference between the two. We'll see if it's just in my head.
