OK. Here is my Black Friday story:

A liquor store in Ventura County received in his allotment of Bourbon County last week. He received in all (3) variants, and one case of Vanilla Rye. In order to purchase one 4-Pack (of your choice) you were required to purchase (2) 750ml bottles of either Sofie, or Matilda (which were about $10 a piece). That allowed you purchase the 4-Pack at the bargain basement price of $49.99. BTW, if you use a bank card at the store there's a .50 cent fee for each transaction.

He charged $39.99 per bottle of the Vanilla Rye. I'm not sure what the prerequisites were to purchase those were because they were already gone when I got there. I have no doubt in my mind that he will sell everything that he has in inventory.

People can be so dumb sometimes. How someone can fork over that much cash knowing that they're getting bent over is beyond me. They must've wanted that beer really bad. I for one, will never shop there again.

Holy shit, that is absolutely insane. Sorry to hear about these crazy stores. I would hope at some point GI would care how their beer is being represented in the market.

I have a bad karma turned good karma story.

Arrived at a beer store 30 minutes before they opened to try and get my hands on some bcbs. Guy directly behind me starts talking about how we was just at another beer store that had vanilla. Proceeds to brag about how he changed clothes twice in order to get 3 bottles of vanilla and basically screw other people out of getting to try it. Kinda pissed me off and I turned and quit talking to him. We get to the front of the line and me and my girlfriend get the last 3 bottles of coffee. Oh snap. LOL. I hear him behind me whining and he jumps out of line and storms out of the store. After getting my beer I turn to the guy behind me and hand him a bottle of coffee and he hands me a reg bcbs. Cool. The guy was stoked he got a coffee as he'd never had it before and I was glad to be able to hook him up cuz I felt dickish for getting the last 3.

I laughed about that douch the rest of the day. Cheers.

Waited in line for 3 hours. Walked into the door of the liquor store just under the cut line for Vanilla. Finally made it to the table with all of the Bourbon County and variants, two people in front of me got the last Vanilla... Still a success as I was able to get some Barleywine and Coffee, but oh so close to a Vanilla...

I got 2 bottles of the 14.4% BCBS a few weeks ago. That was enough for me.

How about Cyber Monday? I had been in contact with my "local" shop that is about 106 miles from my house (thanks Google) by email. Monday morning he said he still had stock, so I jumped in the car and picked up a case...and another $350 worth of beer to make the international trip worth it.

Started off in line at TW in Pembroke Pines, FL with one guy who had 6 mules with him!!!!!!!! They allowing one Vanilla and one 4 pack. The guy in front had his guys get exactly one Vanilla and one BCBCS each. When I got up for my turn I got the same and the store quickly ran out of coffee because of the guy in front. So my friend over at ABC called me and told me they got their allotment to please come over that he would give me w/e I wanted. Instead of being a di*k, I waited outside with everyone else until the store opened and got the same allotment as everyone else. Ended up with another vanilla and coffee 4 pack.

So I went to have my happy beer for getting my hands on some at the local bar that happens to be on a golf course. Sitting down talking to the owner and telling him about everything about the morning, he tells me he was offered 2 cases of BCBS but turned it down because it doesn't fit the crowd he gets. He would have to charge $11 a beer which no one would buy there and offered them to me 'IF' he could still get his hands on it. I called several of my friends and split 2 cases of BCBS amongst all of them.

So am I a hoarder or nice guy? Please judge me fairly.

What a load of crock. Hearing stories like this makes me more upset than hearing the other stories on this thread

I could have bought a whole case of BCBS at one store. For some reason the owner didn't want to sell less than the entire case. Couldn't quite justify paying $163 (inc. tax) for a beer that I've never had before. Settled for a 4-pack of BCBS and plan to drink at most one in the next year and let the other 3 bottles age. However, I'm still hoping to get a couple of variants this Friday when one shop in my area does a delayed release.

My tally was 9 bottles of BCBS, 4 BCBBW and 2 Vanilla Rye. No coffee, but was fortunate enough to have a friend open a bottle with me. Good beer but it pales in comparison to last year's coffee. I don't feel too bad about not getting any.

The stories of waiting in line at a store for hours before opening seem kinda funny to me, just because my experience was so different. Northern Virginia has a ton of beer stores and typically has strong distribution, but this year was odd as the area saw no vanilla and almost none of the other variants. I do a majority of my beer shopping between four locations (a Total Wine, Wegmans, and two small bottle shops) and the rumors were already out there about the small amount coming, but the thought of getting to any stores extra early to get in line never crossed my mind; I'd just go about my original plan of hitting up my usual spots and either I would end up getting a few bottles or I would miss out and carry on with the other beers in my life.

I decided to head to TW when they opened at 9am, and on my drive there I made a pit-stop at Wegmans; picked up the limits of BCBS at both without waiting in any lines (2 4-packs at Wegmans, 1 at TW), with neither place getting any variants. Surprisingly enough the small bottle shops were two of the very few locations in the area to end up with one case each of BCBCS. Having developed a strong friendship with the owners at each place, they were both generous enough to save me 2 bottles of regular and 2 of BCBCS, and notified me that I was free to drop by whenever.

So I ended up with a haul of four 4-packs of BCBS and 4 bottles of coffee with minimal effort, no extra driving around or chasing at random stores; just good fortune thanks to the friendships I've made in this hobby.

Gentleman lets not argue and slander our brothers. I have a fair and equitable solution for 2015: Illinois disto only. I assure you, Chicagoland is more than happy to distribute our excess in over inflated trades.

Still available in Central PA. I couldn't bring myself to submit to overhype and spend 25 bucks plus tax on it friday and have passed on it since then twice.
Who in the heck is stocking up on a domestic craft stout at this price? is it really 12 dollars per four pack better than old Rasputen? I will never know at these prices. If a brewery is going to charge that much for a four pack at least have the decency to brew it in a monastery in Belgium or something! Chicago was built on a swamp for christ sakes:wink:

I got a text about 10:30 on "black Friday" from a friend that told me a local BevMo still had some BCBS. I took my sweet-ass time to get there, figuring I'd either get some or I wouldn't. I got there between 12:30 and 1:00 in the afternoon. Walked in without drama, bought a 4 pack, drove home.

Nowhere within 20 miles of me had anything but the standard 4 packs of the OG style and I didn't feel like lining up at 8:00 in the morning (or earlier) to bag some variant, so... I didn't.

I did check a BevMo and a Total Wine a few miles away and both were sold out. The Total Wine guys had ordered ten cases of BCBS and were flabbergasted that people began lining up an hour before opening to get some. it was all gone by 11:00, they said, and they didn't understand why people would do this for "some expensive beer. I mean, it's not wine."

My liver doesn't need more than a 4 pack of BCS. I keep cringing at all the people bragging about getting like 50 bottles of the stuff. It's great beer for sure, but god.
