Been meaning to ask this for a while - what is the difference between regular Cantillon and Lou Pepe? Also, what are the standard prices off the shelves for each? Cheers!
By regular Cantillon do you mean their gueuze? If so, the gueuze is a blend of a one year old lambic, a two year old lambic, and a three year old lambic. Their gueuze isn't made with any fruit additions. Lou Pepe on the other hand is made with cherries and comes in three styles: frarmboise, gueuze, and kriek. Typically the gueuze will go for a little less than Lou Pepe, going for about $23 for a 750ml. Lou Pepe is a little bit more expensive with bottles normally going for about $30 for a 750ml.
For anyone too lazy to click the link Knifestyles provided, here are the basics: all LP beers are made with two-year-old Lambic aged in first-fill wine barrels and fermented with priming syrup instead of young Lambic. The LP Kriek and Framboise also contain 50% more fruit than the 100% Kriek and Rose de Gambrinus.
Guess I don't know shit about sours. Ignore my post. Sorry. Thanks for making me feel like an idiot, but I guess it was well deserved.
The purpose of my post was to point out, for the sake of others, that your information was not correct. I was not trying to make you look like an idiot. I would have been made an attempt at sarcasm or something if I'd had the intention of being a jerk.
I didn't mean you guys sounded like jerks, I just hate looking like an idiot haha. You two were right, I was wrong. I'm not too well versed in sours, but I'm more than half a growler into victory at sea right now and I feel like I could conquer anything so I figured I'd try to answer haha.
