Did my first trade with a guy on here a few weeks back before Thanksgiving. I shipped first, he received, then shipping a few days later.

Package never made it to my house. FedEx says the label either came off or the box was ripped and contents were discarded. Either way, me getting the package isn't going to happen.

Shipper won't respond to messages about getting it worked out.

It's not his fault the box went missing, though me still sitting here without his half of the trade while he's enjoying the beers that I sent. I've requested a few times that he contact me to get it worked out through FedEx with no response.

    What to do?

While it's not his fault FedEx messed up, it is his responsibility to get you your beer. He needs to send you a replacement box.

Yep...you are entitled to a replacement box that makes you whole. Try (diligently) to work out via BM and email/texts. If nothing happens, give an ultimatum (i.e., I need a response within 3 days or I will have to start a thread about the situation and out you). Out the guy if necessary.

Can we see a tracking number? It seems odd that FedEx cannot give a definitive answer about what happened. If the label comes off, then packages can go missing forever. But if it was destroyed, the tracking number should indicate that.

That said, either way your trading partner is responsible to get your brews to you.

I think if we can look at a detailed tracking report, some of the older traders around here might have more focused advice for you.

Similar thing happened to me but I was the shipper. FedEx emailed me and said my package was damaged and they were sending it back to me. I asked them to deliver in spite of damage but they refused. I got the package back and each bottle was intact. In the meantime however I reshipped my trading parter a new box. The issue is mine, in my opinion, my partner got me my box I owe him a box. This is a small price to pay to not have to fly to a different part of the country to get local brews.

I hope you get made whole. If not I'd be willing to throw some OK locals your way to soften the blow.

Nope. I've sent another message but no response.

    For those interested, FedEx tracking:

Have you tried calling 1 800 GO FEDEX ?

Sometimes they have different information that doesn't post online.

But it appears the box was lost. If so, nothing changes... Your trading partner is obligated to fill his end.

He should also definitely be working the phones and trying to track down his box. If it wasn't destroyed, and simply lost there is a decent chance they can find it... He might have to swallow a big pill and admit that it was beer, but he should try to avoid that and just describe the exterior of the box. If all else fails, he should file a claim and then likely get reimbursed for the lost box.

    Hope this helps, Toby.

Trading partner owes you some beers. He should file a claim with FedEx to at least get some money back on it

I would give it a few more days but if he doesn't respond to you, tag him in this thread. Especially, if he is still signing on.

Yep, I've called a few times and I get the same answer. Tracing says they can't find it.

I'll give him a few more days to answer the messages I've sent then it's off to the races.

    Thanks folks.

Can someone give me a quick explanation of how filing a claim with FedEx works? I know they always ask me if I want to declare a value and I always just say it's under the $100 threshold or whatever it is. I guess I'm just not understanding what you're filing a claim for if what was in your package (beer) wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. Is it just the cost you paid for shipping that filing a claim can help you with or the actual value of what was in it?

Still no news from the shipper or FedEx.

    @tsauce2

I've sent a few messages with no response thus far. I was patient enough while you waited a week to ship mine. I'm wanting another box or you can PayPal me the money for what I sent you.

Thanks. Yes, I've seen his actions have fallen off since our communications. I know he's been on since I'd sent the last two messages requesting a resolution.
