Lets call BCBS $25 for a 4 pack at average retail.
Do the math, it works out to about $11.49 if sold in bomber format.

Are there other BA Stouts that are on the same level as BCBS taste-wise? Yes
Are any of them priced at or below $11.49 a bomber? Nope

But if Inbev hadn't bought GI, many of us (including me) would never have had the opportunity to drink it

The way I like to look at, you drink that bottle on a special occasion. Buying a new house, a wedding, ect. Life events you cant put a price on. Or, like me, I plan to drink it New Years with lots of other good beer and hang out with friends rather than go to the bars and blow 150 bucks. But like you said, drinking that expensive is out of the question on a regular basis.

That is my plan. Well I didnt skip out BCBS, but Central Waters stuff is amazing.

Since most of my beer drinking is done outside the house in a bar I don't bat an eye at paying $6 for a bottle of this stuff. Best deal I got all year.

Who went to a baseball/football/basketball/hockey game this year and bought a beer?

    It's all relative.

Thanks to all of you for the comparisons and opinions, I'm still on the fence... But I don't think you're all crazy haha

I really do hope you all enjoy the hell out of those. I'm most intrigued by the vanilla... Which i hear puts me in a group with just about all of you haha.

I guess I can't talk since I bought abyss.... It's just easier to get for me here.

Considering that if it were in a bomber, it would be $20, I'd say it's a pretty good deal.

I've bought four four packs...two at $20 and two at $25. The price per ounce for the quality is worth it everyday and twice on Sunday.

I dig the variants that I've had, 2012 coffee, 2013 Proprieters, 2013 Barleywine, but the regular stout, I am far less impressed by. I'd rather drink several other Bourbon Barrel stouts, especially considering the markup that I have paid for Bourbon County over the last few years

I'm not sure that ABInBev is at all to blame for my opinion, as I still think that the entire Bourbon County line (and many other GI offerings) are great.

Variants great, flagship stout not so much, especially when factoring in the price.

Most things purchased are not worth the price paid.

    But people crave things....

    its not worth it...
I only had the 2012 version and the bourbon overpowered it, I rather have a mixed drink. Even if it sat on shelfs and didn't sell out right away, I would still debate whether to pick up a 4pack for the price, once a year. Pick up a bottle of bourbon

Great perspective. Laughable how many people go out once a week or more and have a few $7 pints, plus 20% tip on top of that, yet won't buy a special bottle that is about $6 because of the price.

Everyone on this site will waste all of their money and time to get this beer but wont spend a dime on any year round goose island product, so what does that say about it? We're all too snobbish to buy an InBev product until BCBS comes out and then we all complain about allocation and pricing. You're not allowed to be mad about it's price or it's availability unless you drink G.I. brands year round (and let's be honest, besides BCBS you don't buy anything from Goose Island)

Seems about average of $28 a 4 pack and that's about as high as I would go really.

I love about 20 miles away in Orland Park and got the bombers for $20.99 and so did many other people I know in the $20-$24 range so I think your in the minority for that price locally.

That's just it. The people that feel the way you do are having a harder time getting it. I know people that overpay for Pliny and just imagine what people have paid for "the younger". There are many beers like this not just BCBS. In the end its all subjective. But if you love the beer get it. I know people have gotten it in other states than Illinois for same price roughly as me at $20.99. I'm sure everybody pays a more for that" special" beer that they need to have. I can tell your not trying to be a hater. But why question how much one may love a certain beer and how much they will pay for it. I traded 1 proprietors for 1 Mexican cake and 1 mocha Wednesday and many people thought was fair.

I posted this in a trade thread, but thinking that was a bad call so I figured I'd post it here. I see a lot of 10,000 Prop bottle and 30,000 Vanilla bottle counts being thrown around, but that seems awfully low given the information from the brewery on the number of barrels filled of each.

200 barrels of vanilla, at 53 gallons per barrel, and 22 ounce bottles makes

(53x128x200)/22 = more than 60,000 bottles of vanilla

Of course assumes no kegs, so an over estimate but still many more than numbers I see here.

    Prop filled 88 barrels for

(53x128x88)/22 = more than 27,000 bottles worth of Proprietors

Anyone know where the "10,000 and 30,000" number comes from? Do they significantly underfill the barrels? Last year I'm pretty sure I remember people were noting about 25,000 bottles of Prop, which makes more sense to me based on the barrel totals.

(Go easy on me I am asking honestly because I have no experience here. Got my information from here: http://www.chicagoreader.com/Bleade...ers-reviewed-by-six-increasingly-drunk-people).

I just paid $21 for a 4pack of Scaldis Noel. Is BCBCS at the same level of quality, ingredients, expertise to brew as Scaldis?

Absolutely, I enjoy it just as much as any +$20 belgian 4 pack. Somewhere around the high 20's is where I'd pause.

Had my first BCBS last weekend in Copenhagen. Paid $18 for one, and coming from Scandinavia I consider that decent. I've gotta move overseas.
