OKAY SPEAKING OF LIFS:

Christmas Day is the best day for the NBA, everyone knows that. So since I was fortunate enough to win a LIF in this bad boy already, and since my original idea for a LIF was destroyed when the format changed early on, here's my Christmas NBA LIF for this group:

Last year, Christmas was a Wednesday. This is not important information for this LIF. However, I vividly remember watching the Rockets DESTROY the eventual champion Spurs, 111-98. It was glorious. James Harden put up 28 points. Freaking crazy.

Anyway, last year there were five games, and the ten scores, ordered, were: 78, 94, 95, 95, 98, 101, 103, 105, 111, and 123.

The mode was 95, the median was 99.5, and the mean was 100.3. Cool deal, right?

This year, there are another five games on Christmas. Here's how this LIF is gonna work because I like needlessly complicating things:

• After the five games, I will calculate the ten scores and their mode, median, and mean.
• Whichever one (mode, median, mean) is closest to last year's same number will be the key number (i.e. if the mode this year is 94 and the median is 101 and the mean is 110, for example, then the mode would be the key number).
• I will round properly (i.e. 0.5-->1.0) and if more than one number is equidistant from last year's number, I'll take the mean of the proposed keys and that will be the key (also rounded).
  
• Whichever team is the next (12/26 and on) to score the key number will get the LIF box.
• Now, I said I like overcomplicating things, so here's a further wrinkle: if two teams hit it on the same day, then the key number will be invalidated (neither team will win) and the entire LIF will start over with the next closest value becoming the key number. So, if in the example above, two teams get 94 on 12/30, then neither team would win (sucks) and the median number of 101 would become the new key, and the LIF would reset on 12/31. If all three numbers disappear this way, then I'll throw myself off a building or something.

Got it? SUPER confusing but I like things that way.

 

So last year the median and mean would have both been 100, right? So there may only be 2 numbers before the building toss? Let's hope the scores this year aren't 78, 85, 94, 98, 100, 100, 102, 106, 115, and 122... it could be a really bad ending to 2014.

 

That LIF confused me, so just let me know if I win.

2. Team must hit 111 twice
3. Winner must agree to start their own LIF within this BIF (if winner does not agree, then LIF is still open).
