I'm glad I could realign those expectations. All about perspective. And yeah this label is bad ass, I love it. I also find it curious that you started checking in beers 10-1. I started using untappd of 10-1-2013 and now 1127 beers later here we are!

Speaking of proper glassware:

 

I was reading the posts about BA Jones Dog on the Pipeworks thread earlier... I'm kicking myself now (and every time I hear about it)--I was in a store that had 10-12 BA Jones Dog on the shelf at release, no limit, and I didn't pick a single one up. That habit changed with Murderous.

I've heard little birdies talking about a barrel aged Abduction that is in the works/nearing release...

 

One of my top five beers. Amazing, amazing stuff.

 

@UcDru You should ask your drinking buddy about getting booted from a bar or was it barS in Vermont. But he is a wily one and switched clothes and was served more. Keith is an idol-like character to me!

You guys are forcing me to expose all of my "rookie mistakes" tonight...

I really only started "hunting" for good beers a few months ago. I was into craft for a long while though, and picked up plenty of seasonals and shelf-limited prior to that, but it wasn't until I joined BA that I knew when to ask for "backroom beers". I usually just happened into the really limited stuff here and there, and I had a good friend who always seemed to be able to land the big boys--and he also liked sharing, so I never had to work hard at it. Then he moved... That being said...

In my enthusiastic foray into the world of trading (I believe I was on a quest for my first Heady) I posted a trade offering BA Murderous + other limited locals. I had 2 Murderous and several people come back to me with offers. I felt obligated to trade the ones I had since I had posted the trade offer, and I got some really good beer in exchange, but every time I hear someone talk about how good BA Murderous is, I regret not declining one more offer and saving one for myself. Early on in my trading "career" I learned a very important lesson. Make sure to keep one for myself (and my buddies of course...).

That seems like an awfully long way of saying, I haven't had the BA Murderous either, and am kicking myself for the lost opportunity.

If I had one (well, two ) it'd be yours. Good lesson to learn, though perhaps one I need to unlearn just a bit

Are you a part of any regular bottle share groups? Between grading, extra-curricular duties, and occasionally checking in on the family, I suck at planning anything. I have a few buddies now who are kind-of into "really good beer", but the bug hasn't bit them just yet, and I'd prefer to share a few really good beers with a few people rather than sucking down an entire bomber of one really good beer all myself (though I don't really mind all that much)...

Now OTL I do have! But, I had a bomber at a bar (Bigby's) shortly after its release, so I waver on whether it is okay to trade it away or if I should sit on it... I did try it, so I wouldn't be breaking my rule...would I?

--@Lehighace06 --I'm happy it didn't take something like an Abraxas or Prop to learn the lesson. And it sound like our brains might just be afflicted in the same way...

 

Just started one last month - we're planning on another meeting next month so I'm hoping it cements into something permanent. Definitely a great thing for the reasons you state - "default" people for splitting bombers and sharing/getting special beers.

 

Finally getting around to trying this one. Need to track down Black Eye now, haven't seen it hit my market

 

Uno mas... not quite as good as Yellow Rose, but still damn good!!
