I'm going to try to make it this year. Can anyone explain to a rookie exactly how the bottle share works? Are you just supposed to throw some bottles in your pocket when you get into line or is everyone dragging coolers around? Do you trade or just take a hit, er swig, and pass it on? Seems I saw on a video from last years party that there was a table of opened bottles and everyone just took a drink of something. If that's the format do you just leave an open bottle in return? Just trying to know whether I should show up with a couple or a six'er or more. Also I thought I saw somewhere about bringing a camp chair to get comfy in line. Is this the norm or do more peeps just stand around? Seems a bunch of chairs in line would be a clusterbomb once the line starts moving.

 

bring a folding chair that is easy to carry. for the bottle share we pretty much just pour Cantillon and Hill Farmstead bottles all over ourselves like we just won the world series....


seriously though, the bottle share doesnt have any rules. just bring some stuff to open and share it with the people you are hanging with, they will likely return the favor. bring a small taster glass and some water for rinsing and hydrating.

 

I'll be bringing a bunch of bottles along. Last year it pretty much went like this: open a bottle, take a small pour, walk around and pour more beer into other people's glasses too. Hopefully someone will give you some beer in return. Really the whole point of this game is to drink enough to not realize that your toes are freezing off.

 

That reminds me, the forecast for Marshall for next Friday/Saturday is upper 30's. I'm going to be wearing shorts if it's that warm out!

 

I played that game, and went too hard in the paint last year. Proper moderation is key.

 

An experiment:
After you finish your bottle #1 of 1992 Bourbon County Brand Stout aged in a virgins womb for 9 months (or whatever whale you've got), fill it up with water after your crew has been there a few hours. Pour everyone a little bit and see if they think it's the best beer they've ever had.

I saw that on their facebook... pictured with no wax. But is that confirmation that they're not GOING to?

 

i think they waxed them close to party time last year. they better have wax or it wont taste nearly as good. plus last years wax really made me feel like i earned my beer after i got the wax off.

 

I think they waxed them the day before the party last year. Rumor has it that they thought the bottles were a little too easy to open last year though so are just going to dip the whole damn bottle in it this year.

 

Or that might just be the Double Barrel bottles.

 

I blame the people that were in front of you in line. At least your heater kept the Taco Bell warm(ish).
