I've had both before on a couple occasions. Vacation w/ brett is pretty straight forward brett belgian pale. Wasn't super horsey or anything, quite crushable. Lazy Susan if I remember correctly had a really nice fruit/wheat presence...but I was drinking the home-brew versions. Haven't had this batch.

Had Lazy Susan at Hermosillo during la beer week sour night. Solid effort, the nectarine really came thru.

Modem Tones' sours really squeezed my wallet, so while I didn't max out, I still found enough coins under the sofa to get 3 Lazy's and 1 Vacation.

Yeah, family isn't getting nothing but well wishes this year.

My, if only that release party had some sort of, like, end of the year, best of beers sort of sharing of bottles to go along with it...

Damn bottle releases, can I justify buying two Lazy Susans and driving all the way to LA to get them, that is the question.

Well, how strange of you to mention that, good sir, because it just so happens...

On Sunday, December 14th, The Hermosillo Club is organizing a loosely structured tasting of beers within a set theme-- this time, "Best of 2014". The idea behind this concept is that it is an open-invitation blind tasting bottle-share where all of the beers are covered in a brown bag and served in a random order, so that none of the participants have any knowledge of the beers we are drinking. It’s a fun, unpretentious way to circumvent any preconceptions you may have, and to challenge and educate your palate about the flavors and aromas you experience.

Starting at 1:00PM, we will do the "Brown Bag" tasting of various beers in small pours, and you can evaluate, rate, savor, and compare the beers to one another as part of the tasting. Price of admission? Just a bottle or two of your favorite beers of the year, that you bring in for the occasion. Any beer of your choice, provided you think it is "worthy" of "Best of 2014" consideration. If you’re bringing a 22 oz. or 750 mL bottle, one should be enough. If it’s a 12-ounce bottle or can, please bring two (if possible-- if you only have one, just bring the one).

These events are open to any and all interested participants. Come out and share some delicious beers, enjoy the food and beer from Hermosillo and Highland Park Brewery, bring your friends and make new ones. Time to toast this past great year in craft beer and look forward to a new one!

Should be a really, really great time. And made all the better with the release of Lazy Susan and Vacation w/ Brett (I've tried both, and they're both really good). So we've got some special, tasty treats lined up for this Brown Bag. I just submitted an event to BA right now (but these things have always just relied on word-of-mouth). The monthly Brown Bag Nights are usually a cool, very small group of 6-12 "regulars" (again, always a good time), but last year's "Best of" soiree featured some 30-40-ish people and some 60-80-ish bottles, all really damn good (by the very nature of the event, of course). So if anyone out there in BA land wants to come on out to hang and drink some great beer (and partake in some of the special treats), by all means... join us!

Maybe your "Best of" was a special one-off that was just released this year, or maybe it was a particularly great batch of an annual release, or maybe it was a beer you tried for the first time (or fell in love with again) even though it's been around for awhile (or maybe it's a show-stealer from an earlier Brown Bag Night, ahem)... Whatever "Best of 2014" means to you is perfectly fine to bring as your humble offering to celebrate, share, and enjoy on reflection of this great beer year. There will be no shortage of great beers!

Damn. I have finals the following week so it's not likely I'll make it to this. Wish it was a week later.
