Goose Island said last year, that Bourbon County would be easier to get this as they were producing a lot more than previous years. This is ridiculous, its been out for going on three weeks now, and I have gotten my hands on one bottle. Last year in the first few weeks it was released I drove around from packy to packy and picked up 4 -4 packs .. 1 bottle really? then I hear there was a mold issue and the beer was taken off the shelves and they promised to replace it within a week, no replacement yet. So Disappointed for my favorite Christmas beer.

It was easier to get if you knew where to look. Places like walgreens and Costco were getting cases this year. I did not get a lot either with that being said.

The problem isn't Goose Island. The problem is all the growth of new people in craft beer. Production in 2008, for example, was smaller than now and I was able to get as much as I wanted and I live in a pathetic market.

You guys get too excited about this beer! It's good, but it's not worth so much mental energy.

yeah I get it. BUT Goose Island said they would make sure it was easy to get this year. They did a huge article on it last year, that people in the busy markets would be able to get their hands on it without issues. Im half way across the country from Chicago and only have found 1 bottle and it cost me $9 not sure it is worth that

A bourbon county thread? Where we discuss how little/much we picked up? Such a novel concept.

As my grandmother always used to say - don't cry over moldy bals

2-3 years ago brand stout sat on shelves for months. I was literally buying 4 packs Months later after it was released in very normal beer stores. It's just the demand has gotten so ridiculously out of control. I bought 2012 brand stout in the summer of 2013 at a local place solely for the fact that it sat on the shelf for That long.

    Haha, what??

Well whatever 'moldy bals' is, seems apropos in the case of this year's BC bottle issues.

I'd say you're part of the minority on that thought. BCBS is my favorite stout period, except for the variants. Plus I had no mental energy issues, I'm sitting on almost a case w a shit eating grin.

We're talking about beer right? Not like a scarcity of medicine or food? Just checking.

I recall reading several comments on Black Friday and the day after from Massachusetts folks that some stores had cases of it with no lines. I distinctly remember thinking this was the one part of the country where I consistently saw those kind of comments.

op, you need to do some more hustle and less whining. BCBS is or was there for you. You just have to go find it.

The issue is the hoarders. They hold it all hostage demanding high price or crazy trades. If know one offers anything up for it the market will adjust.

I was at a place this Wednesday that sold 40 cases over the weekend- the guys said that a lot more people were buying it by the case this year than other years. Their allotment was cut at the same time, so instead of having stock for months it will all be gone very soon.

It seems like a few things are happening at once- it's spread out over a greater area while demand has increased, and that has led to people stocking up all at once so they don't lose out later on.

My biggest issue is the deal with distribution. If BCBS sits on the shelves in your market for longer than a month. Your market should not be getting any to begin with. To elaborate, why the hell are distributors supplying a product to markets where there is little to no demand for the product in the first place?

Almost all of the Coffee, Barley Wine and Vanilla Rye went to bars/restaurants in NYC. It blows.

They're also pushing into new markets as well so distro will still be thin in some areas, but what surprises me is how expensive it is in Chicago.
