Just finished writing the report for my semester project... 53 pages later, I finally feel like the end of student teaching is in sight

No VBS for me tonight, taking it easy the next few days... will be opening some decent brews next weekend.

To the Sixterhood Target...

Your box contains 5 beers with a BA rating ranging from 91-99 with avg. scores from 4.08 to 4.63. The sixth beer is rated an 85, but it is so damn unique that you just have to try it once...

Four different breweries are represented with no more than two beers from any one brewery. All breweries are truly local, two distributing only to Chicago and the suburbs, one to Illinois and Ohio, and one to six states in the midwest.

I'm packing it tonight...

Oh, and the answer to how many essays I grade during the year...TOO MANY... (I'm on essay 74 for this weekend alone... It's literally in the thousands)

And the answer to how often I grade while drinking is...NOT ENOUGH... (I had a beer with dinner tonight. Does that count?)

VBS - 400th beer on BA.

 

For me I believe with "locals" we can't get hung up on ratings. Looking at the 1st 5 beers I have picked out, 3 are over 90's. One is in the style of my targets likes, but is a "local stout" with a rating of 85, and doesn't deserve it. The 5th beer is another "local" seasonal that doesn't stay on the shelf for more than a week, and again 87 rating. So it doesn't stay on the shelf, people line up for it, pay $20+ for a 6 pack and its a mere 87. Really.

I think if you feel your "local" choice is a great beer, send it out. Ive had many mid to late 80s beers that are just as good if not better than some of the hype 95+ beers.

 

My VBS entry for tonight

 

The sixterhood (different than the winter 6-er) box is being sent out tomorrow, and instead of giving hints about who the box may be going to, I figured that I would give little tidbits about the contents of the box. The ratings were part of a larger "package" of information/clues. Since the target will likely receive a Fed-Ex notification that the shipment will be heading his way, I didn't want to give clues about who would be receiving the box. Since I know that there are a lot of BAers in this group who like to "unravel mysteries", I was trying to give enough information about the contents so that someone might begin trying to guess what he is receiving without giving the contents away or ruining the surprise. That's all.

And contents clue #???--I agree with @jawas about local--one of the four represented breweries is a mere ten minute drive from my home, and I can get to the other three within half an hour...

I have yet to begin picking out the contents of the winter 6-er. I've still got plenty of lurking to do...

 

LIF Update....Right now @henshawb is leading with 10 correct answers and then 6 individuals are tied with 9. If Atlanta covers tomorrow Henshawb has it won if GB covers then it will go to a tiebreaker. Good luck folks!
