I am looking to return a favor to a good friend of mine back in Virginia with some great Colorado beers. Can you good people help list beers that might be great from Colorado to suggest for a shipment back home. I am already planning on some Crooked Stave beers. And I am not looking for any whales. I just want a great care package than any beer geek would be happy to have. He is a humble person so I don't want to get too extravagant. Just really good and something worthy.
Backcountry Pale Strange Dr. Strangelove Elevation bomber Bull/Bush Brain Yeti Aspen Saison Lone Tree Irish Red Dry Dock signature bomber etc etc etc
Some of the Dry Dock Signature beers (new Blighs is being released this week, last years is around town as well), or people really seem to like the Coffee Porter (I may crack one tonight, now that I think of it). Funkwerk beers would be good. You could head over the TRVE and get some bottles there.
Odell Myrcenary and IPA Funkwerks Saison and Deceit TRVE Tiphareth or Mannanan New Belgium Le Terroir
Ohhh good call on Trve. He will appreciate them. He is a skull aficionado and would love their style completely.
I say hit them with CO coffee beers: Backcountry breakfast stout, DD double coffee porter and Tweak. That is, if they're good friends.
I'd be all over the comrade but I would rather have him come out here for that and take him there. I think he'd be down for the big coffee beers. I know he is a big stout drinker.
I'd have to second the Legend of the Liquid Brain, especially if he's a stout drinker it's a must add. It's one of those hidden gem beers of CO that no one outside the state knows about.
River North just released B Side Avarice and their Big City... beer was fun. Dry Dock Signature Series, Odell Friek, Funkwerks, plus beers listed by others.
As someone who ships beers to pretty VA often, they seem to be well supplied by Great Divide, Avery (including all 4 of the Annual BA Series), New Belgium (including all Lof), and Epic. I think we used to get FW and most Odell regularly when I lived there 2 years ago... so I imagine it's only gotten better. Can't really argue with any of the other recommendations given though.
Odell does not distribute east of the Mississippi, so I like to include Myrcenary, IPA, and Mountain Standard/ Lugene as easy to get extras. Per the other comment I agree on the Dry Dock and Liquid Brain. The TRVE sours are great, if in stock. Copper Kettles bombers also are a local gem, Mexican Chocolate, Well Bred, Snowed In. For cans I like Hammer and Sickle and E3 from Renegade. Really depends on his favorite styles
You are correct sir, although I don't see much of the Odell woodcut series, could always check totalwine.com. Also NoVa just started getting Deschutes including the more limited stuff
