Picked up a 4 pack, just to try. Good, enjoyable, however I thought it was out of balance and very boozy. Maybe that's the point? I drink bourbon on a regular basis as well. Left the other 4 packs on the shelf.

Heads up: For all those who missed out on Vanilla bottles (which is 99.9% of us), Vanilla Rye is pouring strong (12 oz pours) on draft at The Pour Farm in New Bedford right now and the place is empty (probably since its 2:37pm on a Thursday). And yes, it's fucking incredible. Flock my fellow beer geeks, flock!!! You're welcome

Heard that more Vanilla is around now in bottles. I'm investigating.

It may be my imagination but the regular BCS sold/is selling out much faster than last year. I'm almost positive I bought BCBS in early spring last year. This year most bottle shops are sold out already. I went to 4 shops (all in MA) over the last few days and they are all sold out. Maybe there is a second wave of BCBS on the way?

Pour Farm is completely out of Bourbon County, FYI.

I picked up a 4 pack of regular last night. When I got home I took a look at all the bottles, three of the bottles were the 13.8% version and one bottle was the 14.4%. The 14.4% bottle was completely empty! Wtf.

There's a liquor store, I believe East Gate possibly, in Wilmington that had plenty of BCBS 4-packs as of last week. I imagine they're still in stock.

Atlas in Medford has about a case or so worth of 4pks of regular BCBS out on the floor, something like $22.00 ea. (as of about 5:00pm)

I chatted up the beer guy last week and he was pissed off that he only got ~3 cases of the regular and no variants. Looks like Kappy's Medford got the only variants in the area?

I bought a Cambridge Brewing Co You Enjoy My Stout instead (not at Atlas, as they didn't have it). Too much great beer out there to chase after stuff, IMHO.

I did a poll and the overwhelming opinion was that there was a lot more Backyard supply (nationwide) than Vanilla. seems very odd considering production was the same

Not in Mass, but i've seen alot of pictures of places like Whole Foods doing growlers of Vanilla, people in bars drinking bottles of Vanilla.

I do beleive Mass didn't get as much Vanilla as Backyard, how much less? Who knows. But Backyard last year was able to last a couple hours on shelves, that wasnt uncommon. Vanilla was sold out in minutes.... Literally less than a minute in some places. Crazy !

According to the shops that I visited there were plenty of variants on Black Friday, and a whole lot of demand. Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge had Coffee, Ted's in Charlton had Coffee, Mass Liquors in Worcester had 2 cass of Coffee, State Liquors in Worcester had a case of Vanilla, O'Hara's in Worcester had a case of Coffee, Wyman's in Leominster had a case of Vanilla, Austin Liquors in Worcester had Coffee, Acton Wine had a case of Vanilla, Colonial Spirits in Acton had 3 cases of Coffee and a case of Vanilla. All of them had Barleywine as well. By the Monday after Black Friday all variants were gone, and all of them still had plenty of regular available. All that in my neck of the woods, I can only imagine Boston had bigger allotments. I'm not sure allocation was the issue this year, I hink it has more to do with demand at this point.

FYI, I tried adding coffee to the regular stout last night, and it was pretty damn good. I'm going to play around with different roasts to see what I like the best, but if you couldn't get any Coffee this year then give it a try.
