I was under the impression that they were already planning on coming to Denver. I believe Yester said that in an interview about a year ago and that he was targeting 2015/2016.
He's never been one to shy from controversy, so the Twitter throwdown isn't too shocking. I don't really have an opinion, but having them in Denver will be a good thing.

Too much good (and reasonably priced) beer in CO to buy beer from people like that

I am a little perplexed. Twitter is always hard to follow for me. Are they really bitching about getting in 3rd place on some blog, or were there more comments that I'm missing?

I hate to say this but aside from 365 day sour & Red Swingline & maybe Old Growth, Trinity doesn't have much of a good barrel program. Can't count 7-day, and the rest of the Swingline variants were terrible.

Paradox does much better barrel aging IMHO.

Nope, that's about it. As voted by readers too. (read: alienating your fan base)

I see where Jason Yester is coming from. It's hard to accept the fact that a two year old brewery makes much better beer than you, when your head is bigger than a 55 gallon barrel.

Basically. He's complaining that Colorado Springs beer drinkers are poor judges if they put two others ahead of TRiNiTY, considering national awards, yada yada yada. I think it's less about specific placement and more about indignation. The problem with that is captured here:

Informed folks who like good beer don't even agree that they have a good barrel program. That's not to say they don't have some great beer...just the incredulous response seems way overboard. Further, insulting the very people who have supported you over the years seems childish.

On the other hand, this seems to fit fairly well with everything I've heard about Jason.

I like Red Swingline but I heard the same about the variants. After the hubbub about $11 for a 375 of a session IPA I said "no thanks" to anything else from them anyway... this changes nothing.

Although I'll always take any opportunity to rip the Springs as a bunch of backwards hicks so I agree with him there.

what finished 3d? Looked like Red Swingline variant Easy Swinger won for IPA. I guess I don't know how to follow a twitter string upstream.

Never mind, the third was in the category "Best Barrel Aging"

Not to mention that, in addition to ripping beer drinkers, he's also ripping the two breweries voted ahead of Trinity. Nothing but class out of that operation.

Not that this is news, and not to be a smartass, but... it turns out there's dicks in the beer world just like there's dicks in the rest of society. You hope people would not be so full of themselves as to act like that, but... oh well. Plenty of good beer to go around.

The way he throws Cease and Desist orders around you would think he has high standards/morals. Then you see his labels and the constant rip offs of other beers/breweries and realize he just doesn't have much introspection.

My google-fu must be weak because all I came up with, in a search of "cease and desist Trinity Brewing" was the case where they were the recipient of a c&d and changed Merle to You Never Even Call Me By My Name.

Trinity? Oh yeah, that brewery that tried to sell a small bottle of session IPA for $11. That was months ago, and they're still sitting on the shelves.

No, thanks. We don't need you in Denver.

No. They make great beer, and the people are honestly good too. The owner is way too cool for school though. Charges for it too.
