At first the thread title looked like "breast milk stout" so I'm relieved. I really liked Terrapin Moo Hoo. For a less easily attainable one, I think the base beer of Bell's Black Note is a milk stout.

My two favourite Milk Stouts are actually quite different beers:

CUBs Sheaf Stout is a fantastic and reasonably-priced everyday drinking stout - kind of an Australian take on the style, being lighter in feel for quicker consumption and more refreshment.

On the other end of the spectrum is Garage Project's Cereal Milk Stout, which I enjoyed at its launch (I believe) at Beervana 2014. Full on flavour and incredibly creamy and smooth, with strong chocolate, some roast coffee and a hint of sweet milk, this is in my eyes the ultimate expression of a milk stout.

Mackeson. I never had a North American emulation that tastes right. Left Hand's, in my opinion, tastes rather odd, for example. Of course I haven't tried all the new world examples, but I've had a few.

I used to like Left Hand but after the whole "nitro" thing I waon't buy their products again

I really enjoy Moloko. 4 Hands Chocolate Milk is pretty good also, and Terrapin MooHoo

Xocoveza is unbelievably good. But as a consistent product and easily available, Left Hand Milk Stout has to take the cake for me.

It tastes different to me too. I think it actually has left flavor, but the texture and drinkability is better to me. So I like nitro better than regular, but I understand why a lot of people don't.

I really like Milk Stouts a lot but drain poured Duck-Rabbits, is it possible I got a bad batch? It tasted like it was made with salt water. Nitro Milk Stout is my jam though (and my wife's), got the glasses by Left Hand and a sixer for my wife for Christmas.

Is SS chocoalte stout actually a milk stout? I know it's listed on here as one but what makes it one? Same with Youngs Double Chocolate, I don't remember seeing anything mention milk and lactose on those two.

It's not. It is a "sweet stout" which is lumped into the same category. No lactose involved. Same for Young's. And Bell's Double Cream Stout.

Left hand's Milk Stout remains king for me. Can't wait to try their Imperial Coffee Milk Stout.

I would say the all taste different in there various forms. The Nitro on draft is the best in my opinion. I like the regular in the bottle more than on draft. I feel like the regular on draft has more of a coffee taste.

My two current favorite milk stouts are:

    Wachusett Milk Stout
Tree House; That's What She Said

Left hand is decent and tends to be my fall back 'I want a stout but this place doesn't have anything interesting' stout.

Yep....the French Quarter Temptress (brewed with espresso) and BBA Temptress are astoundingly great...they will be bottling all of the variants next year, so hopefully more people will get to try them...
