KH is a hell of a beer, but there's no way I'd trade for it given what it takes. I quickly gave up on trying to trade for BA DLs for the same reason. Seek out some Kuhnhenn BB4D and BBBW. Neither of them taste much like KH, but I bet if you blended them, it would. I might try this myself.

That's fair. In the interest of amending my position I'll ask you a few things: do you think the frequency of possible future CBH bottlings would be anywhere close to the frequency of BCBCS? Do you think GI would ever discontinue BCBCS in bottle format? I know that CBH wasn't a one-off brew by any means but based on what we know according to what Founders has officially stated, we won't see CBH bottled again in the foreseeable future (at least on the same scale). Of course, as always with brewers, this is all subject to change and you can take the anything-is-possible route and reserve judgement which is fine by me. However, I'd really like to hear your opinion on it.

spot on advice. the bourbon character in king henry made me think of BB4D although i found BB4D to be the more enjoyable beer between the two different styles notwithstanding. let us know how the blend turns out.

bcbcs has been made once every two years so far. i think it's likely we'll see more cbh bottles within 2 years, yes.

    not likely.

the way i see it, this year's release of cbs (17k bottles), cbh (17k bottles), and a promise to triple kbs production next year are signs of expansion to come. the fact that they started with such large batches in the first bottle run suggests, to me, that they were confident those beers would sell well. the fact that they DID sell well would be received (at a smart business) as a sign that they should do it again.

if it were a 1k bottle run like black note, i'd buy the "one-off / test batch" argument. this was production.

Hasn't BCBCS been bottled two years in a row now?

When was the 2010 batch released? The BA page lists the batches as 2010 and 2011 so I thought 2010 would have been released late 2010 while 2011 was the one to be delayed until the next year due to barrels just not being ready.

Why mix BB4D and BBBW? I crack open a Rare, pour it in a snifter, swirl to coat the glass, and discard. Add in any old barleywine, and bam! A 'Poor Man's KH'! Surely I can't be the only one who does this.

If I drank a case of that I'd probably quit drinking forever.

There's also the small matter of BCBCS being awesome and CBH being slightly above average.

I don't have Rare or King Henry, kind of a stretch to assume it was me out of a site with 300,000+ users.

It sounded to me like the Beatification dude was soliciting trades for his bottles. The guy with the Rare/King Henry wasn't interested. If you think that's an asshole move by the Rare/King Henry guy you should move to Venezuela or something and work for the government.

Well, your repeated posts in this thread stating that people who don't feel like trading you all their great beers are "greedy assholes" no matter what you put on the table makes you look whiny and entitled.

Your list of all the BA personalities should just be two groups:
    1) Super generous people that give you all their great bottles
    2) Greedy, selfish assholes that won't trade with you

You sound like a fan of the Occupy movement.

I used up all my reply tokens and was waiting for someone to bring this point up. I personally wouldn't trade much for a CBH, bottle count, one offs, or maple syrup variants aside. It just

Agree completely. I somewhat regret drinking my lone bottle of CBH, as I would have much rather traded it for something like BCBCS, that probably tastes much better. Personally, I prefer Old Curmudgeon to CBH, but to each their own.

I've traded four: one for Hunaphu, one for Black Tuesday, the other two to Corbet for two four packs of KBS. I also traded for one 1414 straight up for it.

If you prefer stouts to barleywines, you will probably think King Henry is the best example of the style.

I've come here to say this:

To say that KH and Sucuba can't be compared has got to be one of the silliest goddamned things I've heard on this site. They're the same style, for god's sake. Obviously KH is considerably better, but how can you know that WITHOUT COMPARING THEM?

Also, Better Half for BCBCS seems like a fair trade, though I'd rather have the BCBCS, regardless of whether Better Half is going to be made again.

I stand corrected. With that I'll concede that BCBCS was a pretty fair offer and just not what I was looking for at the time.
