Thanks, I am trying to discourage the wife from the grand opening with some success. Of course comes bribery and now she is limiting my spending at 4elf.

That's heartbreaking. I'm not sure if I should feel bad for you or congratulate you on marrying a woman that is financially responsible. Unless of course she only limits your spending. On a serious note the Dark Horse crew serves up an incredible selection of food that makes the party worth attending even for a beer hater (assuming that beer hater is not also a vegetarian).

Got a chance to go to Hopcat tonight. It's super nice and it was awesome to see all the Shorts taps set up for Saturday. It's also dangerously close to home. I have a feeling I'm going to be there a lot.

Anyone have any solid info about pours? Will they have samplers? Prob not, would need a couple thousand if they did!

Yep, small samples that looked to be ~2-3 oz for $1 each.

Sounds like the venue has a capacity of 700 people including both floors. Does anyone know if they will be filling the bar to that limit tomorrow or just what the first floor is limited to.

May actually be attending with my sister and her boyfriend at about 1pm if we do go.

Anybody have any estimate as to how long a wait should be? I've never done something like this. How much seating is there supposed to be? Will there just be people sardined in and standing everywhere?

No. When EL opened it was worse.

Im assuming you mean you want a table? Then yes. If you just want to waltz in an get a beer then you should be ok.

Ah, piss. Guess I'll see what happens.

I wouldn't mind coming in for a few drinks before sitting, but I just imagine it being so packed I can't move. So many great sounding beers though.

Who knows we could all be really wrong about this. But, the hard part is its not just beer nerds going its family, friends etc. Even my friends who don't like craft beer want to head down there tomorrow.

I'll be going around 7pm or so just to see what its like. Hope Freedom of '78 is still flowing.

Dammit. Should be 21+ homebrewing flannel wearing neckbeard having fedora loving people only.

    ...with the exception of me.

I agree. I showed up the second day and the only Short's beers that were on tap were 5-6 of the regular Short's beers - none of the special beers.

I was told they will have the whole place open at 11 am, so that's a capacity of ~700, although the Huma Room upstairs is mostly standing room only. Should be interesting.

I am going to try and get down there in time to get my year of free crack fries. Not sure what time I'll have to get there to be in the first 200, but it's right up the street so I'll keep my eye on things.

Is HopCat EL as big as the one in Detroit?

Also got my tap list figured out... I kind of hope they don't sell out of the bourbon barrel'd beers instantly.

Wondering the same. The comments on the Facebook page are a little all over the place and not incredibly helpful.
