Got one tonight no visable numbers anywhere on bottle. I live in MA and have seen a code on other Lagunitas bottles. What gives? I was excellent by the way.

Date is usually on the neck. It's julian dating so it'll say the day of the year as a number.

There is no such thing in Northern CA as a fresh 32oz Lagunitas Sucks within 6-7 weeks of bottling. The ultimate CA IPA shelf turd. 6-packs Tony. 6-packs. Obvioulsy being "cool" didn't work out so well...

Bought one of those today. No dates on the bottle (just checked again). Still, the store I bought it from always has the freshest limited edition beers (for TX), so I trust yours was safe.

bought a few the other day and they are hard to see but these have dates on the neck. Late October bottling date, not fresh but damn tasty.

October? Damn, the one I found was from June. Too be far though, the store I went to is pretty notorious for having loads of shelf turds. I've found fresher and closer by me.

1 of the things that irrates me about the industry. Lagunitas uses Julian dating correct?

Yes, but don't expect too much on the first date.

I've noticed the dates rub off very easily on the Sucks 32oz. bottles. Maybe it's the shape of the bottle that forces people to handle it right on the neck where the date is? I usually am able to find one with a legible date if I pull a few from the cooler and look closer. If they could just print it on the label we wouldn't have to be beer detectives...

The date is very hard to see, even if you know where it is. Requires a unique combination of light and angle to actually see.
Also, launch of Sucks in quarts has to be the most anticlimactic anticipated release I have seen. When the stuff finallly made it to New York it was very old. This beer drops off a cliff at around 2 months . Stuff in NY was much older than that.

If I could like this post 10 times I would. Can't stand this format!!! There is a date on it, but the bottle is soooooo dark and the print is so small I can never read it. So it sits as a large turd would, on the shelf!

The bottle shop next to my office was so excited to finally get their first shipment of 32 oz. Sucks last week. Over 6 weeks old when they arrived. No idea how much blame the distributor deserves, but based on all the feedback here, it doesn't seem to matter. It's not working. I'd rather have a couple months where I can always find fresh six packs, as opposed to a year of watching the old stuff gather dust.

It's there on the bottle neck, very hard to see in small, black print. Black print on a brown bottle is a real head scratcher. As others have suggested, it helps a lot holding the bottle up to the light to try and get some reflection off the ink. Or, it could be rubbed off, and in that case you're SOL.

Also, as others have suggested, I can't find a bottle around here fresher than August and sometimes September. A fantastic beer turned into a terrible shelf turd is pretty sad.

The ironic thing about reading the bottled on date is this easier to see when bottle has no beer in it.
