This might be my nephew's best birthday party yet... for me. Possibly his too. Iron Man is coming. Custom suit deal. We are going to open the garage door to reveal him with strobes and fog. Should be entertaining. So will my expedition. Here's to staying vertical !

I usually prefer Saisons in the summer but I was kind of in the mood for one.

A pilsner from Carlsberg Sweden in the 3.5% abv segment sold in grocery stores. These tend to be watered down versions of their full strenght brands, but this particular beer is part of a revival of the segment. It's strongly hoppy and is backed up by a nice malt backbone (obviously composed of both pilsner and munich malts, it's amber colored but not sweet thanks to the munich malt, no caramel malts were harmed in the making of this beer). The bitterness and hoppiness makes me think of a full strenght modern pilsner which uses classic German aroma hops. Really impressive for a 3.5% beer. I'd take this over Bitburger as far as taste goes, and I have been a big fan of Bitburger for several years.
