Not usually a fan of rum barrel aged beers. But this one is pretty good.

Still have never tried a single bottle of Eclipse... too expensive and too many variants make it a turn off for me.

With that high of a year, I can only imagine it's El Dorado Rum barrels. If so, very good quality.

When are these available to the public? Are the higher years more expensive?

(I have 2013 Four Roses, I picked up on the shelf in Pueblo, CO - $29.99)

Not missing that much honestly. Unless you like thin stouts that just taste like bourbon. They're not bad beers, but I do t really get it.

Pretty sure any of them would work.

The Spanish Rum was 27.95 at the release party and I think I paid a little less during the futures offering earlier in the year. I doubt that you'll see them in dist, maybe

Well, I think, as a connoisseur myself of predominantly bourbon-barrel aged dark beers, I see it as more of the bridge between two types of alcohol. A child of some sort and it's not as harsh as bourbon and I don't have to drink as much as a pint of beer anymore and balloon out. It reminds me personally of something closer to sipping Grand Marnier. In most cases, I'm sharing with someone, as well.

Not only is barrel-making an ancient craft, the amount of time the bourbon sits in those cask is pretty remarkable and then finally, the beer, which has found a proven method of properly infusing spirits and beer. Like I said before, its such a new frontier that we still have no idea. The Bigs haven't gotten ahold of it yet. It's really something special and I can't stop hoarding the shit.

I think the advantage to the beers is getting all of them together to see the different influences of different barrels, so I don't want anyone to think I'm just hating on the stuff. That's a neat exercise.

I just don't find the beer itself particularly interesting. But when you start putting all of them together for a vertical or horizontal, then you're really talking about a lot of money. At $10-$15 a bottle, that would be fun. At $30 a bottle, it's just not something I get all that excited about and I don't think anyone should get upset about missing out on killing their wallet. But if that's your thing, great!

Wasn't trying to be dissing the beers. They're decent, but my case of BCBS is far more pleasant to drink, and cost me about what 4 or 5 Eclipse bottles would.

Count me in the camp that loves Eclipse. Just got my case yesterday and will be getting into a Vanilla Java later. Perfect timing to help me hold on to my BCBS bottles a bit longer.

I agree with you on every level BMMillsy. I just keep buying the shit and losing myself for special occasions. :astonished:

There's a reason these sit on the shelves all year long.....$30/bottle.

Getting to ejoy a horizontal of a few different variants on tap gave me an entirely new respect for the art of barrel aging!
Every one of them is absolutely unique. When I tried the base beer for the Eclipse variants, I could hardly believe it.
