my fiancée is going down to Houston for a few days this week. Naturally, I asked her to pick some beers up. She is staying by the galleria for reference. First off, what are some bottle shops she should swing by? Second, what are some great local brews or beers with limited distribution she will be able to pick up? I appreciate any and all help, cheers!

Central Market is just down the road on westheimer, opposite side of freeway. Great selection.

Central Market is very close. Whole Foods Market Post Oak is nice as well, just 4 minutes away. If she has transportation, D&Q Beer Station is 10 minutes down the freeway - personally my favorite bottle shop. If she can, Specs on Smith Street is also another excellent place albeit a bit further.

As for locals, I'd definitely recommend getting some Lone Pint Yellow Rose, there may be some Jester King Snorkel still around as well as a few of the standard line up. Saint Arnolds Endeavor is a nice treat if you can get it fresh.

Awesome I appreciate the help. My favorite kind of beer are porters, stouts (BA and regular), IPA's, IIPA's, and APA's. So if anyone has any suggestions to get for those I would appreciate it!

    Lone Pint Yellow Rose
    Southern Star Buried Hatchet Stout
    Buffalo Bayou Gingerbread Stout
    Buffalo Bayou Lenin's Revenge
    Saint Arnold Endeavor
    No Label Perpetual Peace
    Karbach Rodeo Clown

I'd also go ahead and get a 6er of Saint Arnold Elissa and some Boiler Room while she's down here.

Stores are well represented, my recs on local/localish beers:

Lone Pint Yellow Rose - IPA
Karbach Weekend Warrior - Pale Ale
Armadillo Quakertown Stout (think I've only seen this at Specs Smith St in Houston)
Real Ale Coffee Porter (I think this is still out)
Hops and Grain Zoe -Pale lager (think I've only seen at Specs Smith and Central Market in Houston)

Don't bother with Elissa either. Unless its on cask its a less than mediocre IPA

Jugs off of shepard had Southern Star black crack growlers feel recommend that if you can get it. Also d&q got fresh rodeo clown bombers in I believe which is a solid brew as well

Going to be staying in downtown Houston for a few days next week. Will be stopping by D&Q and Specs based on this thread. Looked at the ratings and thought Brash would have been an option as well, but didn't realize they don't have a taproom yet. Any other local recommendations (besides those mentioned here) that are available in bottles/draft that may be available now as opposed to December?

I'd add Hops and Grains Porter Culture. I had it last week and really enjoyed it.
Prarie Funky Gold Amarillo is still around.
I haven't tried Adelbert's Vinatage Nun yet but plan to buy a bottle as soon as I see it.
Also SweetWater Brewing just started distributing here. I thought 420 was okay but I preferred their IPA.

What's with the crappy thread titles lately...

But seriously, have your lady check bottle dates if you're into IPA freshness. A lot of places keep out old product, or even receive it old from the distributor.

I didn't even look at posting dates. I'd only blame OP.
You could gather that from my response being directed at OP (my fiancee/your lady)
If anything, @JayPeso gets a like for using the search function.
