Only way de garde would be anywhere near best brewery in the west is if you hate anything that isn't a Berliner or Saison

I think Sante Adairius is the best overall. But yeah.

Like who? Lost Abbey comes to mind, the Bruery too. But both do not make a single beer i find as sophisticated as Adairius' best.

What do you consider the best from each of those breweries?

I love how this dude just joins the forums and just starts throwing blanket statements around about best breweries on the West Coast.

Same dude who doesn't even know where De Garde distributes to and yet puts them on the throne after having a "couple bottles".

No, SARA is the best overall bro. Don't touch those Bruery shelfturds.

Right, because the date I happen to join the forum is also the date I happen to start drinking beer, and forming an opinion. I have a ratebeer account, and over a hundred reviews there, just in case. And I have been into craft beer for several years. I have traveled amply around the country and had a lot, lot of beer.

Why can't I have an opinion? Because I just joined in? How many posts should I get before I get to state my preferences?

What the Hell is wrong with some people here, Jesus...

I was being euphemistic about what I tried from them. Had more than a couple of bottles.

You are acting like a real idiot, by the way.

I just saw a Vin Lee on the shelf in SD today....I was pretty excited til I saw the 45.99 price tag....the owner wasn't in so I couldn't talk to him about it.

That depends on the criteria you use to measure quality. If all you care about is not 'legacy' or historical proof but who is making the best beer, then whether they are a week old or twenty years is irrelevant. Case in point, I think SARA makes better beer overall than Lost Abbey, Lagunitas, Stone, Firestone Walker, AleSmith...

I could get into why I think this, and assess the beer directly. I have written reviews on these elsewhere.

Of course, they are hardly as 'proven' as others, but I was just going by who I think is making the best beer out there. I am really impressed by the work that Prairie, De Garde, HF, SARA, Anchorage, FW and Alpine are putting out. It is not a big deal, and certainly does not warrant the hostility and arrogance with which I have been met.

I managed to land a deal on a couple of bottles, thanks to this thread.

Also, since you are fond of analogies, we call Wittgenstein the greatest philosopher of the 20th Century although he wrote basically two works. Quality and quantity, you know...

And like I said, I think that's fine and dandy, but I was judging in terms of what I think the quality of the beer as presently produced is. And in that regard, yes, I think they are pretty much producing the best beer I know of in the WC.

So you're judging the brewery on the basis of their capacity to produce high quality beer in bigger batches. That's your criterion, and following it, you're right.

Now, if I were to ask you, who was producing the best beer overall, in your estimation, irrespective of breadth of distribution or quantity, and irrespective of whether it is 'not that hard to do or is', what would you say.

One of the problems with SARA is that it's so hard to get their beers. You even have people admitting that they won't let go of their bottles for anything less than the most sought after bottles around. Most of us won't ever have the opportunity to have their beers unless we make the trip to Capitola, and even then, there's no guarantee that we'll come away with bottles since they release them at random.
