My initial post was primarily aimed at people from Illinois going there and waiting in the cold for this beer. It would be easier to just score some BCBS, which to me is a better beer. If you just showed up at 10 am and got your beer, great. My post wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at people traveling for hours and then camping overnight.

I wish you were one of the great folks we shared good times with, sadly...I think we were at different fires. Wish we had at the same fire for sure hahaha.

Aww man that was some good stuff, cool to meet someone I shared drinks with in line! I had the Big Tony's.

Nah man I totally get what you're saying. I got caught up in the hype this year and was actually one of those people at the bottle share party. Next year, I'm just showing up at 8am, grabbing an order form, then going to travel and get breakfast/shop until the party starts. The over night exhaustion ruined what was probably a fun party. I imagine the 3000 people in line at Binny's for example, wasn't fun to deal with either =D

Just wanted to jump on here and say how well I thought things were handled orderly once forms were being handed out, near the front of the line (within first 100). Knowing that we would get whatever we wanted didn't hurt but there was a point where the people with the tents in front of us (when you first walked out back) had let about double the people cut in line with them. I would have estimated we were about 45-50 back when we got there and when we got our order forms, we were in the upper 80's. I know it could have only got exponentially worse the further you got back in line. Even though I knew we would still get whatever we wanted I was feeling for the people who had clearly been in ilne before the db's in front of us and might get shut out of the things they had got there for early, like normal human beings do. Without getting into a fight, I am not sure how you avoid this since nobody I talked to in this group acted like they knew any of the people cutting after saying something multiple times. I guess the only way is to talk with these people immediately when you get there and let them know you are not cool with people cutting in line with them? This was my first event like this so I figured people would be a little more considerate than they were. Lesson learned!

I would say that I met some really great people and got to graciously try a lot of amazing stuff. If you were in line with us (Brent and Colin), please be sure to send me a pm so we can do some more bottle shares in the Rochester Hills area!

Anyone know if there's any BBPt5 left in the general store today?

I think if it was ticketed and your order was placed by ticket number, this would all go away. Line jumpers suck big d**k and should be cast to the curb thinking they are better than the rest. But, this is what our world has come to I guess.

Outside of that. Met a couple cool folks there and had a great time. Would almost think of doing an overnight for the fun but don't want to deal with the 10% of douchbags that come with it.

All in all, much better organized than most I've been to.

I agree in general that people should not be driving long distances just for the bottles. I also think you should not go to any bottle release unless you are going to be ok coming away with nothing. But if they want to go, it is their perogative. I bet most are staying to enjoy the party, so it is probably not just for the bottles. I personally like BBPT5 more than BCBS, but I can see people likeing BCBS better. I just dont think you can say flat out that one is better than another, but again that is my opinion.

I really don't have any complaints about the event. I had an absolute blast at my first 4 Elf. The 2 four pack slip up of DBBPt5 was unfortunate, but it looks like they just clarified the issue on FB. It was always meant to be a 2 four pack limit.

When everyone started packing up their shit, there were 50-70 ft gaps in the line. People just started walking around the line if no one was there. It wasn't a mad dash to get up in line. I saw the line move so I thought that's how it works. I wasn't going to sit there wondering "hmmm people are moving but I'm going to stay right here. I'll show them!" It is what it is I guess.

I don't know what the best way to handle that is, but why do people need to pack up their shit? What if DH crew walked through the line handing out the forms? Could that help a little bit of the craziness? I think the snaked line didn't help things either. My thought is if they hand out the forms when people get there, A) when will people actually show up? (11am Thursday?), and B) most people would probably leave and come back at 6 or 7 to hand in their forms. I'm sure the DH crew likes having all of these people hanging out, sharing beers, and mostly everyone having a good time.

Either way, I'll go back next year to hang out in line again and only plan on getting 2 cases of BBPt5. Anything more than that is just icing on the cake. And for the DBBPt5 haters out there, I liked it just as much as BBPt5. The rum totally changes the taste and I liked it as much as BBPt5, but in a completely different way.

They only problem I had was the number of beer stations. It wasnt a problem in the afternoon, but at night the lines were really long.

That and the last portapotty that rocked if you put any weight to the one side.

I don't think they intended it to be 2 four packs, I think that was the easiest way to apologize and get the least amount of shit. The vintage bbpt5 was doubled on the sheets as well and that was posted for a week or so.

As a guy that wasn't nearly as drunk as he thought he would be, I didn't even catch the doubling of the vintage limit. The DBBPt5 didn't slip by me. I noticed that they updated the bottle and draft details on the website about 3-4 times within the week of it being posted. Obviously they fixed a lot of things so it's possible that it was a typo on the website because apparently there were a lot of them.

Hahaha. When we were in the second line after they moved everyone the portajohn was about 6oz of urine or one turd from overflowing and being unusable. never seen that before. A big vat of disease.

I tend to believe that as well. It's certainly the easiest way to try and backstroke out of the mud. It's a little hard to believe that three items were all listed with a "1" as part of a keying error and it was never caught. One being that way is certainly understandable. Oh well, nothing that I, them, or anyone else can do at this point. Except to maybe throw shade your way for being one of the lucky sumbitches that got two four packs! Congrats on your extra surprise. It's always fun when shit like that works out in your favor!

this is exactly what i was thinking too. mildly irritating but i still should have got some if not for all the the line cutting. i was #249 getting there at 8pm and missed out by about 20 people. saw a lot of people that i know were in line behind me that were already handing in order sheets while i was filling mine out. great event though and had a shit ton of fun waiting in line.
