@Sixpoint (Shane). Some comments and questions about two beers:

    1. BA Imperial Otis. I don't see this listed on your website, but a local establishment just posted that they have it on tap. Where can I read more info about this beer?

    2. Hi-Res. I believe it gets released in January, but I noticed on your webpage that the specs of the beer have already changed (slightly) from last year:

Last year: 111 IBU, 11.1% ABV and 11 SRM. (Loved all of the 11's)
This year: 115 IBU, 10.5% ABV and 11 SRM.

I imagine the changes are part of the "new formulation" that has been mentioned in the past. Will the "this one goes to 11" tagline be removed, since it really isn't a significant number for that beer anymore?
With such a slight change in ibu and abv, what can drinkers expect to notice as far as differences go from last years Hi-Res to this years?

Can't a company come out with an awesome new DIPA and just leave it alone?
Victory releases DirtWolf, it's amazing, then it disappears, and when it comes back it's completely different and not as good.
Victory releases Hop Ranch, it's incredible, then it comes back this year and it's changed too.
Now Sixpoint changed Hi-Res? I suppose I'll have to try it before I judge, I hope they didn't ruin it.

    Don't panice, don't panic.

More info can be found about the Imperial Otis here.

Regarding the Hi-Res, good work on noticing the subtle changes. Yes, you are right - subtle changes have been made to the beer and its reflected in the new specs listed on the website. Should you be afraid? Well, I would argue that if you looked at our track record, we have a pretty clear trajectory of steady improvement for the beers - better clarity, better mouthfeel, better aroma, better flavor. Many of you noticed this with our core beers this year with the launch of our 6packs.

With every batch, the brewers at Sixpoint attempt to perfect each formulation, which necessitates continuous improvement "kaizen" style brewing. As a matter of fact, the improvements to the Hi-Res were largely based upon customer feedback. One of the most common comments was "love this beer, but its a tad too boozy." As you probably know, its hard to make an 11% beer (non barrel-aged) that has absolutely no detection of alcohol, but lowering the ABV by half a percentage point was just the right X-factor to bring the balance right on target. We also increased some of the flavor and aroma additions to give it that extra juiciness our fans were looking for. It also should be perfectly clear this year - a nice brass color with a perfect white head on top. We think you'll be jazzed about the subtle improvements!

As previously stated, I think there is a strong track record here of improving things for the better. We have no desire to make things worse over time, but instead take the feedback from our customers and fans to constantly create a better experience each and every time. Drop us a line once you try this year's batch! cheers

No panic here. Was just curious more than anything else.
I never doubted that the beer wont be as enjoyable as last year.

Thanks for the link on the imperial otis. Sounds amazing.

I thought my tastes had changed dramatically. When I first had DirtWolf I loved it! Hard to find for a while then gone. Earlier this year I was able to get it again. I bought a case and was surprised that it was not what I remembered. Good to know! Do you know what they changed about it?

At a local place near me, they only have so much fridge space. Some beer makes it in there, but MOST beer does not. I have yet to taste a single difference of any of sixpoint's lineup when purchased from the cooler or the shelf.

If you are refusing to buy beer off the shelf, just because it is suggested on the box to keep refrigerated, you are doing yourself a huge disservice.

Well. I will kindly disagree on this one. I purchased my first Resin from Sixpoint this year off the shelf. It was so sweet and horrible that I left a bad review. I was able to get a hold of some fresh(That had not been sitting on the room temperature shelf) and let me tell you...........What a difference. After tasting the fresh(not abused) Resin, it became one of my favorite beers. It DOES make a difference with certain beers, I can attest to that !!!!!!!!!!

There is no doubt that beer is best continuously stored cold (unless it is a cellarable beer) but as Mark posted: “At a local place near me, they only have so much fridge space.” All of my local beer retailers are the same way: more non-refrigerated space than refrigerated. If I want to purchase Sixpoint beers I simply have the take a chance on buying unrefrigerated product (for the majority of purchases).

    Cheers!

I find their offerings average, but the fact that they come in a can is a big plus for me. Crisp, Resin, are both good for their style. If Double Trouble and Prima Pils were available in cans, it would be a no brainer. DT and PP would win out every time.

Maria, that is a bummer. Both of those beers were (are) very tasty.

    Cheers!

P.S. But you got some very fresh Genny Bock so at least you have that going for you!

Have you had them lately (e.g., mid-2014 onwards)?

I have to admit, I had Global Warmer on tap at the brewery and it was excellent. I have not seen this offering in cans here in NYC, otherwise I would purchase this wonderful brew.
